I know this story!

OP posts:
sis · 05/06/2003 13:20

I felt sorry for her and felt like crying when she started crying. I didn't think the working but not telling her dh was such a good idea - esp as the film crew knew as did members of their family (as she was working for her brother-in-law)!

I thought the photography programme was good too - missed the first 20 mins- and it was really great when she was offered the job at the end>

codswallop · 05/06/2003 13:21

missed the end of the photo one
tell tell

codswallop · 05/06/2003 13:22

(there was alot of flicking around last night!!)

Lulu41 · 05/06/2003 13:37

I thought Mr & Mrs was a wind up - they were rather strange. The programme after she had a husband then, never saw him and I couldnt believe her kids all practically teenagers did not know how to cut up an onion!!!

chanelno5 · 05/06/2003 14:03

Do the subjects of these sort of programmes get paid for taking part? Was just wondering how they managed to afford to move to a bigger house and have another baby within a year when money was so tight.

wickedstepmother · 05/06/2003 14:12

Lulu I think you've got a bit confused - the thing with the woman and the 'onion teens' was on before Mr and Mrs.

Mr and Mrs was a fly on the wall thing about a cpl who had just had a baby. It could have been DP and I so much so that it caused a row in our house.

codswallop · 05/06/2003 14:21

hope you won

colette · 05/06/2003 14:23

I also was a bit peeved we didn't find out how they managed to move to a bigger house and have another baby.
She was pretty sulky and hard on dh when he was trying to apologise (probably hormonal and sheer exhaustion) As I am 36 wks pg it was good for dh to see to remind him how strung out you can be when you're tired and hormonal!

wickedstepmother · 05/06/2003 14:27

I ALWAYS WIN coddie

wickedstepmother · 05/06/2003 14:29

Yes, but Collete, their first and only child has his first set of jabs () and it didn't even occur to her DH to change his s**ding hair appointment !!! I would have been the same.

wickedstepmother · 05/06/2003 14:31

Haircut V Tiny baby being stabbed with needle

Tinker · 05/06/2003 14:42

It woudln't have occurred to me that it should have occurred to him to do so

wickedstepmother · 05/06/2003 14:46

Different strokes and all that...

Perhaps I feel that way because DP made every effort to come to each and every one of DD's 'nasty' appointments.

SamboM · 05/06/2003 15:04

I thought she was horrible to him too. Really mean to resent him going out for a few bevs.

I really enjoyed that lovely woman changing her career progamme too - they kept playing my brother's music in the background which made it more enjoyable!

wickedstepmother · 05/06/2003 15:08

Ohh, Sambo, is this a claim to fame?!! Who is your brother and what was his music ? I watched the prog and was really pleased that she got what she wanted work-wise, much better than the lazy arse from last weeks show...

SamboM · 05/06/2003 15:15

Not really. He used to have a band called Muki (this was the music on the prog, it's used for loads of tv shows). Now has one called The Underwolves. All binky bonky twiddly widdly ambiently sort of music!

wickedstepmother · 05/06/2003 15:16

Ooooooooohh, I would probably know it if I heard it.

SamboM · 05/06/2003 15:18

It goes

Bink Bink Bonk Tsssssh Tsssssh Binky Bonky Bink

wickedstepmother · 05/06/2003 15:22

Yep, definitely heard it. Or is it 'Bink Bink Bink Tsssssh Tsssssh Binky Bonk Bonky Bink' that I've heard ?

SamboM · 05/06/2003 15:25

colette · 05/06/2003 15:52

Wicked Stepmother
yes I agree Dh was a bit selfish and put his own vanity 1st, but I think a lot of new parents don't realy think about the baby being ill after . I have to remind dh of an appt and write it on the calender .

Crunchie · 05/06/2003 16:44

Both dh and I thought the women was a bit of a sulker! I can understand why she was naffed off with him going for the haircut, but still she was a bit of a cow. He was really stressed about money, so she hid it from him that she got a job, and once it had come out she lied again abut how often she was working. She basically said if he was a better man she wouldn't HAVE to work and really threw it in his face, when I thought he was doing his best.

The programme after was great, the kids and onion was a classic moment, but I nearly cried when she got the job. This series interests me as I got onto a shortlist for it, then I found a new job so backed out.

wickedstepmother · 05/06/2003 17:42

I have to agree that I thought she was out of order not telling him about the job and then lying again when she increased her hours. Also didn't like the fact that she said the thing about 'you shouldn't need to get a second job now that you're 29' (paraphrasing), a bit unfair. To be honest I was too busy rowing with DP during the prog !

Tinker · 05/06/2003 18:54

northernlass - I agree, sure she had a touch of PND but think I just wouldn't have liked her anyway. Didn't like her tone when talking to her husband, really patronising, as though he was a little boy who needed taming.

And the dig about his earnings and that he should be looking after her really got on my tits.

I guess the haircut/jabs thing wouldn't have occurred to me since my daughter didn't meet her dad til she was 15 months old.

The other programme (Reality Check?) was very heartwarming. She seemed so sweet and dignified.
