Playground shelter in bad weather-any ideas?

Our school has no playground shelters and now that the weather is changing our kids are soaked every day in the 15 mins before school doors open.School says staff only cover from 9am when bell rings so will not take them in earlier.

What do other schools(partic in Scotland)do in bad weather? Any ideas appreciated

ours opend from 8 45 onwards,,, kids have to be IN by 8 55. we pay a TA to supervise the playground from 8 30 so parents can drop and go to work.

myabe get to school later?!

Sorry, nit in Scotland, but DS's school opens it's gates and doors from 8.30. Registration is at 8.50.

All staff are there from 8.30, but this has only changed recently with the introduction of a new Head who actually puts the kids first!

hi haggismum
i live in ayrshire (wettest area in scotland me thinks!!!), if its raining heavy they sound a bell and the main doors r opened at 8.50am for the children to go in, they are supervised by the classroom assistants and i believe the teachers do a rota so there are 2 of them also supervising. I agree there is nothing more miserable than standing in the playground in the rain and your children start the day off wet!!!

Umbrellas?
Proper wet weather clothing?
Get there later?

Our school built a shelter in a corner of the playground. Parents still complain that it's not near any of the classrooms (20 yards away). I think it's the ones who come by car and never think to put a coat on their children regardless of snow, blizzards etc. (Not saying this is you op BTW)

Thanks for the Info.Sounds like we all have similar problems. Some kids will never wear coats/stand in shelters no matter what we do.And as Hocaspontas says with some folks there is just no winning!! I feel sorry for our kids that come on the school bus as they are dropped off at 8.40 no matter the weather and there is obv no shelter and certainly no playground supervision. The joys of living in Scotland I guess.....

I have to hang around three days a week after dropping off/ picking up DS2 from pre-school and then DS2 from school(8.40 - 9.00am, 3pm - 3.25pm) we and a few others sneak into the after school club cloakroom in bad weather, no one knows!
