Being a foreigner and English not being my first language, I was wondering: are you actually talking sex in this thread???? Is this just coded talk??? Or do I really have a dirty mind..... (don't answer that one)

codswallop, didn't you know that a diet of only raw food is now all the rage (according to the froggy Elle magazine anyway...), so you must be superhealthy and shouldn't have bothered getting your oven cleaned

codswallop · 30/05/2003 17:34

Like Cher in That film Mermaids..lived on canapes!

Weh Hey codswallop! - I had my oven cleaned last week!! My little man was here for 3 hours, did oven and separate hob, cost 50 quid, absolutely the best money ever spent - I was giddy after he'd gone, had to keep opening it and gazing lovingly inside. And every poor sod who comes round has to gaze at it too. Mind you, all my friends are total sluts like me so they are highly impressed and have all booked him too.

Ghosty · 30/05/2003 21:58

I do realise that I am really lucky here ... but I have a little man who cleans my oven for nothing ... he is called Mr Ghosty ....

codswallop · 01/06/2003 12:21

poor Mt Ghosty.. MIne did the exractor ages ago and almost passed out.

Havent come clean to Mr Wallop yet - he hasnt noticed it gleaming!1 Dahlia were you Ovenu too or someone else?

OP posts:
binker · 29/06/2003 19:02

I've just been trying to clean our oven (it's very elderly)and it looks no better than when I started - I checked out the website for Ovenu - what exactly happens when they come ? do they give you an estimate first ? will it really looks spotless ???

janh · 29/06/2003 20:09

binker, I had mine done a couple of weeks ago, it was £39 for the oven (single, built-under) + £10 for the hob (ruined the aluminium rings around the burners) + £10 for petrol because he had to come a long way. £59 altogether.

But he was here for at least 4 hours, took oven apart, shelves and supports gleam like new now and you can see what's cooking through the glass in the door and the light inside is brilliant too.

(Mind you my oven is only about 5 years old, but has been very badly neglected. He said it wasn't the worst he'd ever seen but I could hear the unspoken "but nearly"!)

Definitely recommend it!

(Mine had to come back too, because he managed to lose the screw off the oven fan in the squalid tank full of ovencleaner in the back of his van - can't be replaced from an ordinary hardware store because it's a reverse screw (fan would revolve itself off otherwise) - it was replaced by ovenu head office.)

binker · 30/06/2003 17:55

thanks Janh - does it matter that it is very old do you suppose -it's probably about 30 or so ! I imagine the man taking it apart and it not fitting back together again !

janh · 30/06/2003 18:24

binker, best thing would be to give them the details - you have to email them and then someone rings up to make an appt, so if you tell them oven age/make etc they'll be able to tell you if they can help...I would have thought that an old (free-standing?) oven is probably put together better than a new one.

But I have cleaned mine in the past (honest!) and even when it was quite new it never looked like this - it is a very impressive clean. (Non-toxic too - doesn't smell at all.)

codswallop · 30/06/2003 18:42

Mine cost 50 quid and he was there for 4 hours. He told me mine wasnt the worse he had seen too! (but, he whispered, there isthis woman called Janh...)

cods, don't forget yours was done first, you should hear what he told me about you....
