OK not exactly full winter yet but I really miss being outside and generally out and about, festivals, camping etc ... I woke up this morning, it was raining, cold and we haven't got much money and I couldn't think of anything to do that I would look forward to.

What do you do on days like this that doesn't cost much? Suggestions please even the small things - they are sometimes the best. (btw moving somewhere warmer is not an option!)

Conjuring up some lovely images here. Have to admit I am drawn to the outdoors ones - stakethroughtheheart, I love the idea of jogging in the rain and wish I had some of your energy, I had a dismal attempt at jogging once and even old people walked faster than I jogged. Love the idea of shopping for the cold weather Bonsoir - kind of outdoors theme without actually going outdoors in the rain. Great! Will have to be charity shop tho'
What a lovely dad you have Itwasa.. you are so lucky.

ng if you like the idea of running get over to sport & exercise and read some of the beginner running threads, and the couch to 5k one. initial outlay on shoes is the only stumbling block but maybe you could get everyone to club together and get you some for xmas, or go shopping in the sales. honestly, starting running is one of the best things i've done in years, i'm annoyingly evangelical about it. (i actually have very little energy right now, but making time to go out first thing is part of my plan to fix that)

I am doing the hibernating thing too. I have spent a very satisfying week decluttering my house and making it cozy for winter. My friend got me a huge cherry blossom Yankee candle for my birthday which I love to light and just read a book. I might get one of the more warming ones now, maybe a cinammony or vanilla type one.
When I can be bothered, and if the kitchen isn't too cold, I do baking with dd which has the benefit of making the kitchen warm for a bit, and cake afterwards
I hate being stuck in doors. The rain is hammering down here and I have been enjoying the weather we've had for the last week or so by spending all day outside

Afternoon tea with hot, buttery crumpets and the biggest pot of tea I can make. Finished up with fig rolls, garibaldis or some other sort of other 'older persons' biccies. Then a snooze on the sofa if possible
