I am just sorting the forms to send to insurance company for my car.

My insurance policy states me as the registered keeper but the person named on the registered keeper form (log book) is actually my DP. I always thought it was in my name

Will this mean they will refuse to pay out?

HELP

I think you can definitely be insured on the car your not registered keeper for. The issue with me is that I TOLD them that I was (I thought I was) and just realised I wasnt when getting the forms out.

you should be ok then unless they're being really picky.

my understanding is that the registered keeper/owner has to be the main person on the insurance. we certainly had to change the ownership details of our car to make dp the owner as he's so much cheaper to insure than me.

right ive just got a fake quote online from elephant and by the bit about registered owner/keeper it says:

"Please confirm if you or your spouse is the registered owner of this car.

If anyone else is the registered owner, we will ask you to enter their name and their relationship to you. We will only insure a car registered in someone else's name under certain circumstances. Please call 0870 013 1072 ( Mon - Fri: 8am - 10pm; Sat: 9am - 5pm; Sun: 10am - 4pm ) if you would like to know more."

It doesnt specify what it thinks about cohabiting partners and whether they count as spouses or not. this will need clarifying i would assume it would be fine though as you're living as a married couple. God this is why i hated working in insurance!!!!!!
hope this helps.
