We've had an offer we can't refuse on our flat in W12. Would dearly love to buy a house here but there is no way we can afford it . Greenford/Perivale seems to be in our price range for a 3-bedroomed house. I know about the sites with all the official figures on areas but would really like first-hand opinions on what it's really like to live in these areas. Is it a good mix of people? Does it feel safe? Lots to do with kids? Are the primary schools good? If so, which ones? I have so many questions!

TIA.

Hi Moonshine, where did you end up, I'm in exactly the same position as you, leaving SB and looking at Ruislip, need to be able to get into Ealing reasonably easily?

Well, it depends on where you send your kids to school. Som of the best schools are in W13, so just up the road. W5 and upper West Ealing are definetely not run down. But Southall and Elthorne and Hanwell area are abit run down. Going up to the Hanwell station area, is the richest bit for miles. But going down towards Hounslow is not greatly safe like Upper Hanwell and W5. The best schools in the area is Little Ealing Primary, Hobayne or Oaklands, which has just recieved an amazing new headteacher, Ms T Hodgson. And for High Schools, Theres Elthorne Park ( In the W7 area) which is the 2nd best school in the whole of Ealing, and is in the top 120 schools in the UK. Theres also Twyford C of E which is accesable by a 207 bus from Hanwell petrol station, down the road, to Acton, where is also the Ellen Wilkensin School For Girls and in Brentford, theres Brentford School For Girls, which is also avliable by the E8 bus from Micheal Gaynor Close (a cul-de-sac near the high street) and is about 15 mins on the E8/195 bus.
