Washing machine not spinning?

My washing machine has just started not spinning whatsoever during the cycle, all the clothes are coming out soaked but not cleaned. Just wanted to know if anyone has experienced this and found it cheaper/easier to either get it replaced or repaired.

Another problem on newer washing machines is that sensors in them know if the load in them is unbalanced (such as a heavy item on one side that is not moving and light stuf that is everywhere else). If this happens then it will drain the load but not spin it. You need to rebalance the load and it works just fine.

where and what are these brushes and how do i fix them?

oldraver · 28/02/2010 22:58

Louxx.. mears gives a good description of the bushes

They are usually two of them ad are on the motor (a large cylinder shaped thing) they slot or slide in and have a clip on them with wires coming out. You unclip the wires and the bushes should slide out. I have changed them a lot on an old Hotpoint. It can be fiddle depending on where they are but do-able

If you Google 'X-brand washing machin motor bushes' you will get an idea and links to 'how to do' pages

Breeze- 99% problem is in motor. Brush is finish or problem is block filter.

Hi all,
This thread has great troubleshooting insights! For breeze and others facing spin issues, common causes include worn motor brushes (as mears/doormat noted), belt problems, pump blockages (like Linnet's sock incident), or drainage faults.
While DIY checks (unplugged!) for blockages/leveling are smart first steps, some faults need professional diagnostics - especially if the drum won’t turn at all (motor/board issues StuartC/PandaBear mentioned).
As a employee at FAJ Technical Services LLC, I’d add:
→ Brushes often wear unevenly; replacing both is cost-effective
→ Error codes (if your model has a display) pinpoint issues fast
→ Imbalanced loads can trigger safety locks - redistributing clothes sometimes helps
For complex fixes (e.g., motherboard faults), repairs are usually 40-60% cheaper than replacement if the machine is under 8 years old. We offer free quotes and same-day service across Dubai UAE.
Happy to advise further if anyone needs specifics - just drop a DM. Good luck!
