How easy is it to cut a straight fringe?

Don't cut it wet. Or if you do, leave it longer than you think it needs.

Otherwise she'll have to walk round with her eyebrows raised as it will be too short - hair stretches when it's wet!

don't do it .. it is deceptively difficult and impossible .. I tried 3 or 4 times with DS until finally finding a mobile hairdresser

Is she too old for a dainty hairclip to one side - you will probably regret cutting it yourself, especially without super sharp hairdressing scissors.

impossible for dd1 as she has very fine straight hair that shows all scissor marks. W

OK - start with it wet, and clip back the hair on either side of her fringe that you don't want to cut. Comb her fringe down, and with very sharp scissors, and without taking too much off, start from the MIDDLE and go out the way to one side. Repeat on to the other side.
I am the fringe meister - never had a disaster using this method (although the hairdressers out there will probably be horrified!)

I've cut dd's fringe loads of times. You just cut it straight just at the eyebrows (leaving room to make it shorter if you cock it up) and then take little chunks out to soften it. I do have a pair of hairdressing scissors though.

I always cut my own fringe when i was younger.

i think wonky fringes are essential for a rounded childhood go for it

i cut my own fringe by taking the whole thing and making a little pony tail out of it,then twisting it a couple of times and then trimming off the end...et voila! it really works

O o o o h... this I do know! My mum use to cut our fringes throughout our childhoods with the tried and tested SELLOTAPE method. Wet hair, comb fringe section neatly forwards, apply long single strip of Sellotape across it at the level you want t ocut and use lower edge of tape as a guide. It holds the hair in place so that you can see any straggly bits and nip 'em.

DD will enjoy this herself when she has enough hair to warrant it; it's a winner!

There was a girl in my school who did that as well- the day before the school netball team photos were taken and she was GK or something daft

My mother used to selloptape our hair to our foreheads and cut along the line! You used to be able to get special tape to di it, but sellotape was good enough!
