i understand working tax credit? but is it a set rate for child tax credit? or is it different due to your circumstances? if it is a set rate how much is it?

loulabelle222, I think that child tax credit depends on how much your childcare is currently costing you, while you are working. Not entirely sure how they work out the percentages.

i think if you earn more than 20,000 a year you get less, if thats any help.

Bugsy - that must only apply to the childcare credit element.

I think it's a set amount per child, double for a child under 1, but then on a sliding scale according to income, if that makes sense. ?

if u got to the inland rev site and put in ur details it will calculate how much u get then u can apply online. i did it and i had the money in the bank within a week

it isn't only to do with childcare. I don't use any childcare for ds but still get nearly £1000 a year!

Bugsy2 · 30/05/2005 20:26

Ok, I stand corrected - obviously more to it than just childcare costs loulabelle222!

i was surprised actually... we're on a good wage, no childcare... wasn't expecting to get anything at all!
