Edgarcat, sorry Pip and Pop were playing up. Binned the receipt in shame, but we got a 20x16 crystal-clear vibrant family portrait in a 30x26 wide gold frame/mount, a beautiful candid shot of dd (9x7 in an 18x16 frame) and two 7x5s of dd being held by each of us for the dps, for somewhere around the £900 mark. I know, I know - they have big windows...and there's one born every minute... and it's obvious that I keep trying to justify the expense. But they're paid for now and everyone's happy with them. The poses are non-traditional and therefore more interesting(but becoming more common as Venture-type places spring up) - like daddy lying on tummy facing camera, baby sat on his shoulders grinning toothlessly and mummy sat astride his backside holding baby - so three heads atop each other - everyone in white shirts and denim jeans. Cutesy I know but different from us being formally arranged around pater familias in leather high-back armchair.

After #2 arrives in October, we'll be looking for somewhere a whole lot cheaper, but delivering similar quality, for the update - and as our photographer friend told us, we should be able to find it.

we got some done, we used the freebie voucher form the Bounty pack, ds was 8 weeks and could smile, but we hadn't been able to get a single smiley photo. The firm was Pixie Foto and they had a stall in Woolies for a week. We sort of went along because it was free, and sat back to await results. the photographer was FANTASTIC. He took 6 poses, all lovely, and he got ds laughing in every one. If you don't have a freebie the sitting is 5.99. My mum went back a week later to collect the results. The freebie is huge (bit bigger than A4) Then she had the option to buy the rest. They came in packs like school photos, but you could mix and match packs. First pack of 1 large, 1 medium and 4 small was about 40.00, subsequent pack was about 7.00 each. Well worth it, my mum bought loads, we love them. I think they are in yellow pages, but I don't know if they do family groups.

My dh has scanned the best (has one as a screen saver (ahhh)) and took them to a local photo shop to get them printed off for more copies. Whoops didn't think of copyright, but then that doesn't exist here.

sorry, not very clear, no frames, photos were done in UK, then posted to us , hence the copyright free zone.
and I guess my huge is very big for a family group

sorry, that should have been -ISN'T very big- I'll get the hang of this one day

Got to agree a painted portrait won't cost that much and it would look so much better in the living room! There are plenty of artists out there who offer portraits

this is an old thread, please don't revive them to post spam.

Our experience with Venture was very disappointing. We went to the Kingston site; they had no idea how to deal with children. My 3 well-behaved daughters were made to feel very uncomfortable, which resulted in very poor photographs.

We were given the hard sell, but easily walked away as I detest their timeshare style approach to sales. I would avoid this company.

We have since had the girls photos done with a local photographer and are over the moon with the results.

The photo's Venture use for their marketing are taken by talented professionals. The photographers they use for their everyday sittings are very sadly not.
