When was the last time you cleaned under your bed?

Don't quite know what came over me today, but decided to pull the bed out and give it a good hoover. The amount of dust under there was enough to make me feel sick. Just wandered if I am the only filth monger around.
I am sure when DH comes home he will want to know who I am, and what have I done with his wife

Rachel somebodyorother in the Telegraph last week said, bedsheets must be changed every week and cot sheets every day, more often if necessary. I'm afraid I fail miserably - more Cha-like in my habits.

Mum2Toby · 12/05/2003 00:08

Cha - she is weird! And obviously has too much time on her hands!!!

Yes, I've been reading the series in the Telegraph on saturdays for the last few weeks.

I am apparently a complete slut, beds get changed no more than once a fortnight, ds's sometimes goes longer than that if he hasn't had an accident in it (and I have a cleaning lady to do it for me).

This reporter in the Telegraph reckons that we should spend 1 full day a week cleaning the house from top to bottom (NEVER start downstairs and work up, apparently. We should also NEVER leave the house with dirty dishes on the side of the sink, nor put clothes that need dry cleaning back in the wardrobe. God Forbid that you ever leave clothes on the floor in your bedroom.

Said woman reckons that these thing are all easy to achieve, and will make our lives so much more worthwhile.

You took the words right out of my mouth, easy

Why is it.....
if ever I do go on a cleaning spree, I feel so much better afterwards - like my depression has been lifted by clearing the clutter.

Only happens when I can't find something important though.......

I even bought "How to dejunk your life" read it, but never quite got round to it - maybe I should write in to BBC2..........

When the Telegraph was delivered on Saturday DH found me furtively looking for that houseworky woman's articles in the Weekend section. I find her advice fascinating and strangely compelling.

He thinks it's time I went back to work!

badjelly · 12/05/2003 15:52

Cleaning what's that?

We also have a huge divan which can't be moved without completely emptying the room of everything else first. Well that's my excuse anyway. As for bedlinin - when I remember! cot sheets every couple of days depending how sicked on they are.

Why is it men are great at telling us when they need doing but seem incapable of doing it themselves? My dh says that he never changes the sheets himself because he gets stuck in the quilt cover taking it off!

I've also been reading the telegraph over the weekend. So today I cleaned and hoovered under all the beds, changed the bedlinen as usual on a Monday and then I tackled behind the fridge and the cooker in the kitchen!!

CAM · 13/05/2003 09:16

Your cleaner spends most of her time polishing the gold taps though Custardo

SofiaAmes · 13/05/2003 10:19

CAM, gold is soooo out. I'm sure custardo has brushed nickel taps to be cleaned...
