Do your boys play with dollshouses?

I am in the process of having a big clearout and I'm trying to decide which of dd's toys to save for ds. She has a pink wooden dolls house that has been neglected for a while now and she's said I can get rid of it. I hate having 'girls' toys and 'boys' toys but I have a friend who works in a nursery who has told me that boys rarely play with the role play toys. Is that really true? We just about have space to keep it, but I don't know if I should. Ds is only 13 months atm and not interested in any toys, being more of a spoon and saucepan kind of baby

As the owner of 2 boys I can say that they love going to really girly houses and playing with the toys there.

Greeny- was it you who didn't have a copy of Carbonel? I picked up a copy today in Topsham but have no idea in whose direction to throw send it

DS1 is 8 and had a dolls house for Christmas last year - has bought grandparents & cars since.

NB: 'Santa' bought him a lego house the year before as he wanted one then too and he was a bit disappointed.

Ooh, I LOVED the carbonel books

No no Greensleeves, there were No subliminal messages!

Neither of my boys ever played an imaginative game of any kind, which cuts down the play value of a lot of toys, including all the baby dolls, houses etc I carefully chose for them

ds2 has autism - special case, fair enough,
but ds1 is just weird that way

They're both wonderful, of course

Dd however has played 'lets pretend I'm..' forever, just like I remember doing

NOT necessarily a gender thing of course

they just delight in not bucking stereotypes, to my chagrin

DS is now 28-his favourite toy aged five was the Big Yellow Teapot .

I'm glad to read this thread - I too was wondering what to do with my old dollshouse and whether or not DS (now 19mo) would like it - it's a white cottage style though, no pink about it so not particularly girly. Hurrah! I shall keep it for him
