Does anyone else switch their phone off?

Just wondered as I've just unplugged ours. Around this time every night I just disconnect it so nobody can get through! Do you think I'm odd?

I know dh thinks it's strange but I have always spent the whole day rushing about and doing stuff so by this time I just want to chill out, eat dinner, watch TV/DVD or whatever without someone interrupting me for a chat (outlaws in particular ).

I hate being contactable 24 hrs a day cos there's no privacy! I keep my mobile with me if the main phone is off so if JT falls down the stairs she can still get hold of me - she's getting on a bit y'know

I do - regularly now. I need my evenings free for myself - I'm generally knackered when GS is due for bed and once he goes, I have a veg for an hour or so and then get some work done. I agree - I spend all day very busy and if anyone wants me, they can get me from around 7 in the morning to 5.30ish at night. Also started turning it off at weekends. Suddenly discovered what its like to be able to have some time that is totaly disturbance free ... I love it. Also when I'm busy - I don't answer the phone and I can't understand why some people let it ring and ring. C'mon, surely they must realise that if I haven't answered by the fifth ring - I aint gonna!!!!

I let phones ring and ring, partly because I'm a bit vague and forget I'm on the phone sometimes (it's a lulling kinda noise, dontcha think?!), but mainly because if you're on the loo and the phone rings, it's nice if the person doesn't ring off after three rings!

no need to no one ever rings me except mum being nosey

LOL morningpaper! That's why I always have my mobile on. It winds me up that dh's dad will ring at silly o'clock when he knows there are 3 children in bed.

I can't because of dh's job, we can be called at all hours 24/7 365 but you get used to it.

When he's at work during the day I happily ignore it just because I can

Does the phone wake your children up? I used to sort the bedroom phone out when DD was still in with us but that was because the phone was 2 foot away from her head. Now I have no problem with the phone ringing or doing the downstairs hoovering or cutting the grass with the bedroom windows open while they are in bed.
