Received a registered letter this morning without looking signed, this letter was not for me. Could i bring it back to the post office?

yes, i did this once....or call them and the postman will pick it up tomorrow

ChopsTheDuck · 18/06/2009 09:21

do you know who it is for? I'd post it to them or if not pop it in a box marked undelivered

Momma23 · 18/06/2009 09:23

Yes this letter is for my partner but he will go mad if i sign for registered post!

PenelopePitstops · 18/06/2009 09:25

is it for same adress? it doesnt matter who signs then does it?

JackBauer · 18/06/2009 09:27

Why would he go mad? registered post is just signed for by an address, not by the person it is addressed to.

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 18/06/2009 09:29

So if u had seen it was for him would you have refused to sign for it? Why????

Momma23 · 18/06/2009 09:32

I just remember his father signing for one years ago and he went mad.
The address is for his home house, not our house. I just wish i didnt sign for this letter!!

silkcushion · 18/06/2009 09:34

registered doesn't have to be signed by the person it's addressed to only by someone at the address as proof that it got there.

Why would he go mad? You've not opened it have you?

PenelopePitstops · 18/06/2009 09:37

so are you at his home ohouse then?
it really dosnt matter, its only to say its been delivered to the adress

JackBauer · 18/06/2009 09:38

Yes, as long as you haven't opened it then there is no reason for him to get cross. If you didn't sign then he wouldn't get his post so surely better you signed for it.
(although I have opened registered letters to DH if they looked important so I could call him and tell him what it was. He would never go mad)

Momma23 · 18/06/2009 09:40

No not opened it, if he knows he is expecting a registered letter thats ok. He didnt know about this one. Fine if he sings himself but i wish i didnt sign IYKWIM

It is what could be inside more bills

OP posts:
PenelopePitstops · 18/06/2009 09:46

Surely bills dont get sent registered?

I'm worried about your reaction to him tbh

JackBauer · 18/06/2009 14:17

Bills aren't normally registered, and if you are living in the same house then surely you should be involved with the bills as well.
I agree with Penelope.

FruitynNutty · 18/06/2009 14:18

I don't get it?

mumblechum · 18/06/2009 14:20

Is it possible that he has bad debts & doesn't want his creditors to know that he's living there?

That's what's springing to my mind.

squeaver · 18/06/2009 14:23

I think that is the problem, mumble. Very odd, nonetheless.

JackBauer · 18/06/2009 14:33

Does sound like he doesn't want people to know he is getting his post, but doesn't explain why Momma is so worried about his reaction....

Lilyloo · 18/06/2009 14:37

If you haven't opened it why would he be cross ?

NorthernLurker · 18/06/2009 14:49

Well the bad news in the letter isn't going to go away if he didn't sign for it!

That's pretty pathetic actually - if he is trying to evade debts by not receiving mail. It's NOT your fault and you shouldn't be blamed for the perfectly reasonable action of signing for mail.

You sound scared of him tbh - do you feel safe?

FabBakerGirlIsBack · 18/06/2009 14:51

If you take it back to the post office what do you think will happen to it?

If you scared of his reaction over you accepting post, then maybe it is time to rethink your relationship.
