mum2toby · 05/05/2003 22:26

Finbar - she's always at it!! Stay well clear.

Finbar · 05/05/2003 22:35

mum2toby - thanks for the advice!!! honestly what's the world coming to when you can't have a cappucino in your local waitrose without being spotted by a mumsnetter?!!! Actually our children saw eah other and started pulling faces across the restaurant - hope the old wrinklies in there enjoyed the show!!!

mum2toby · 05/05/2003 22:40

LOL finbar. We might have to get restraining orders out on other Mumsnetters!! Or Mumsnutters as someones typo so nicely summarised!!

I seemed to have missed something this weekend in Glasgow! The one weekend when I DIDN'T go into town.....!!!

We were NEARLY in John Lewis for some late morning coffee LAST weekend - but ds got distracted by the trains! Does anyone else have to spend ages watching trains go in and out of a train station - and continue to pretend to be excited!

As an aside, whoever claimed that Thomas the Tank Engine makes children scared of trains because of all the crashes was talking through a hole in his bcsd !!! Ds is obsessed with all things trains. We're off to the next Thomas Day at Bo'ness in a couple of weeks - any other Scottish Mumsnetters going to go along?

Mum2Toby · 06/05/2003 14:56

JanZ - I didn't know about it, but my ds loves 'choo chooooos'!! And it's only about 5 or 6 miles from me! I think I might take him. What is it on??

Mum2Toby · 06/05/2003 14:56

Ooops - I meant what date it is on??

Bobsmum · 06/05/2003 15:11

I finally find a herd of Scottish mums and I'm stuck in the smelly south east. Last time I was in Buchanan Galleries was over Christmas...sob....and you were all there..boobs n all.

Demented · 06/05/2003 15:24

JanZ, I would also love to know when it is on. We have though of taking DS1 a number of times but didn't know when Thomas would be there.

JanZ · 06/05/2003 15:27

It's the 17th, 18th and 19th May - we'll be going on the 18th.

When we went last year, there were massive queues, so we'll make sure to get there by 10am this time. Although to be fair, they do encourage only one person to stay in the queue, while the rest of the group can go onto the platform and go and look at Thomas and watch Douglas going up and down the track, and there was a bouncy castle, a model railway and a wee roundabout to keep you (or child) amused.

Unfortunately, by the time we actually got on the train to go to the other end of the line, where the main enterainment is, it was getting close to ds's nap time, so although he initially enjoyed the trip (and you should have heard his squeals of excitement as we approached the station and he saw Thomas!), we ended up just staying on the train and coming straight back, by which time he was asleep. This year, he should get much more out of it.

The tickets are £7/person (over 2), or £25 for a family ticket (4 people).

Info on the events on Bo'ness railway here , and you could also look at the Thomas the Tank Engine Days Out

Lambchops · 06/05/2003 16:15

JanZ. We have a season ticket for Bo'ness. £75 and valid for everything except Santa specials. Are we sad? The Witches and Wizards weekend is good too. My kids were dressed as Harry, Ron and Hermoine and DH was Hagrid. Some of the kids really thought he was Hagrid! I was Fluffy the three-headed monster (only kidding).
See you there!
