My Postings .... I Never get any replies ...... Why

I have changed my name for this as I do not want anyone to start replying to my other postings to calm my neurosis! But - I have been posting for a while now - and none of my postings seem to generate any interest or response. They are issues that I think are relevant and might be of interest to others but bar one or two oneline responses no-one seems interested in my threads. Perhaps my approach is wrong.
I'm not very interested in more chatty postings like Coronation Street or Cherie Blair - maybe I should be, as these seem to go on for weeks.

we all get paranoid on mumsnet, dont think your alone. sometimes i dont post for a couple of weeks cos i think people are getting fed up of reading my whingy stuff.

so complete symathies. we all get past that stage - just remember that threads fade out and if your a lazy mumsnetter like me you will only read the last days thread even if you havent been on a while, so if you have a question or a point to make just revive it with a "thanks for your answers.. any more would be appreciated" kind of thing

HTH

mum2toby · 29/04/2003 13:01

Meanmum - this company seems to be falling apart too!! Maybe it is the same one.... there are also loads of pay-offs just now so we're all very nervous.

slug · 29/04/2003 13:04

Excuse me crystaltips, but if you posted on simultaneous equations I would be happy to reply.

Meanmum · 29/04/2003 13:12

Mum2Toby - loads of payoffs at ours. IT IS THE SAME ONE!!!!!!

ninja · 29/04/2003 13:31

Can I join in on simultaneous equations or maybe some geometry? Beats education!!

Philippat · 29/04/2003 13:34

the easy way to get lots of responses is to post something contraversial I'd recommend rude comments about Gina Ford, working mums, people who smack etc...

I find it quite interesting that threads change their personality - that Cherie Blair one turned into a really good (for me anyway) discussion about Iraq. I've also noticed that I rarely start a new discussion these days, just get carried away on other peoples!

Are you generaly asking for advice? answering other people's pleas? having a whinge? or commenting on other conversations? I think we all have a different way of responding in those different situations.

mum2toby · 29/04/2003 13:39

Meanmum - I work for an Engineering firm???? Getting closer??

Meanmum · 29/04/2003 13:40

Oh well, not the same one. I'm in IT. Bad industries to be in obviously.

iota · 29/04/2003 14:23

I'm in IT too and have just been made redundant - lucky me - more time for mumsnet whilst the kids are in nursery.
But back to the cause of this thread - I seem to be on mumsnet for hours and still miss so many opportunities to contribute to discussions in which I'd like to get involved. Then I find that someone has already said what I think anyway.

Rhubarb · 29/04/2003 14:39

Some people post the same message on two differently titled threads, I never figured why they did that? Also, Kirby has posted a new thread on Celebrity Get Me Out of Here but there is already a thread on that, so she probably won't get any replies on hers.

Maybe IsItJustMe, people agree with what you say? If I agree with a post I tend not to reply, as they've already said it, I only post if I have a different point to make or I disagree (in the nicest possible way of course! )

Philippat · 29/04/2003 15:09

IsItJustMe - are you planning to join us on this thread again? I hope you're interested in what we have to say

whymummy · 29/04/2003 18:37

isitjustme i felt so bad i`ve gone crazy today trying to answer all the threads?i even went on the "any mums in outer mongolia?"one

Claireandrich · 29/04/2003 19:36

Don't get a complex. I think many of us here have had threads not answered sometimes. And I've only been here a few months too. I am terrible really as I often just go onto the active messages page, rather than the last day/week pages . I only use the net at night normally too so miss out lots during the day. This could be happening to your threads.

Mo2 · 29/04/2003 19:36

isitjustme - NO IT ISN'T ! I felt like this for quite a while when i first joined Mumsnet- thought I was posting interesting questions but rarely got many replies. I think maybe a lot of people visit the site for light relief, and also several of the 'usual topics' whilst new to a 'newbie' may have been covered many times before (e.g. my heart sank when I saw a 'Who is Gina Ford?' thread....) and I'm afraid people may have just 'run out of steam'...
Stick with it - my lucky break came when I anonymously started a thread about dirty laundry ("Am I Dirty?" ) and mumsnetters turned out in droves to share and debate acceptable laundry practice... we're a strange bunch!

Rhubarb · 29/04/2003 21:28

Trouble is, we will have to keep this thread going for ages now just so that no-one feels they are being ignored!

Rhiannon · 29/04/2003 21:31

Don't worry I posted about buying a new iron recently and I hardly got any repiies, I'm also desperate for accommodation over Whitsun in Newquay and I'm not doing well there either.

Post about something really contraversial, that'll get the messages flowing.....

griffy · 29/04/2003 21:43

Like - ummm -

Would Gina Ford recommend circumcision for the privately educated?

Tee hee hee (DUCK)

Ems · 29/04/2003 21:50

excellent!

ninja · 29/04/2003 22:04

Thanks griffy - I just hope I'd beable to resist posting on this thread of yours - go on start it.....

SoupDragon · 30/04/2003 14:58

The circumcision would have to have been done in a private hospital serving Nescafe and offering the MMR at the same time, obviously.

griffy · 30/04/2003 15:52

Batters - done!

ninja · 30/04/2003 16:29

You know I thought I'd seen that title before.

Did isitjustme ever come back to us or is she here in her normal incantation? I hope you're not annoyed that this has become less serious. Did anyone answer your other threads?

IsItJustMe · 30/04/2003 16:54

Look how many responses I have got !!!
