My Dh says it might be overheating.

evaangel2 · 10/05/2009 16:16

i see..so it might be the thermostat...not sure whether it worth replacing...
my dh is good with everything besides electrics & plumbing

If its working ok you can probably carry on using it so long as you frequently open the door and allow it to cool down

nickschick · 10/05/2009 16:20

How old is it?>

Check the filters and give them a good clean, check the condenser unit and wash it out. There may be another filter near the condenser, check that and clean it too. In short check your manual and make sure everything that can be cleaned has been. Often it is just condensation getting onto the heater or electrics.

If you have cleaned everything, let it all dry properly and it happens again contact the supplier or an electrician.

Also, watch it like a hawk, they have been know th catch fire inside the casing because of fluff getting into places it shouldn't.

I never leave my drier on if im going out or if im in bed ....daft really its a new one but I read about one catching fire in the night.

I never leave the oven on either or the washing machine [weirdo emoticon]

Its nearly 2 years old...I cleaned out all the filters this morning and rinsed them right out it trips out as soon as I switch it on..I havent used it for a few days because I prefer not to as they are expensive to run

also I never leave mine on in the night...I seen one go on fire at a hairdressers i worked in many years ago and they go up within minutes, we were all evacuated, the overload of fluff in the filter caused that to happen

have a look thru your local paper for a bloke who ca fix appliances - we have a brilliant guy who can fix any applicance - has saved us a fortune - we had the same thing recetnly with tumble dryer. I cleaned out everywhere i could see, but h pulled it out and found a gallon of fluff in the big wide pipe that goes out thru the wall.
Agree about never leaving them on unattended!
