Dd has just been invited to a party tomorrow for a 4 year old girl. As dd is only 2 I have little idea what to buy a 4 year old and will doubtless spend a ridiculous amount of time in ELC wondering and dithering! ( Luckily I am going into town anyhow) I'd ideally like to spend between £5 and £10. Any ideas?????

I'm boring with presents but decided to only buy books as gifts. You can get some beautiful books and I think they are better than toys. I know the kids don't really like them as much as the toys.

Not being much help I fear.

Dressing up stuff is going down well with dd1 and her friends (3 yrs old) - can you ring her mum and ask? Saves the stress (and the duplicated gifts )

have you seen the barbie fridge magnets?,you get the doll and lots of dresses, shoes, sunglasses etc my daughter plays with hers all the time,i got it from debenhams but i`ve seen it in toy shops as well

My dd was just five and is always thrilled with felt pens and glitter pens, no matter how many she gets, especially if they're in some kind of presentation box. She was just given a present from ELC called a Painting Station- it's a fold up carrier that has lots of painting accessories in it. Otherwise you could go for anything pink and fluffy!

Yikes, just checked and it's £12.50, sorry!

Bayleaf, anything glittery and sparkly always seems to go down well at the parties ds has been to. They do gorgeous - and I mean really gorgeous - pink, sparkly, sequinnned Barbie dressing up shoes in Woolworths for about £5-6 and they've always been greeted with rapture when I've given them. A fiver seems to be the norm for presents around here. Oh, I do love buying sparkly things for girls, Action men just aren't the same!

I agree, pink, glittery Barbie, dress up, colouring.

How about something to wear for the summer from Next, they have some gorgeous stuff in at the moment.

Thanks ladies - glitter it is! - I like the idea of the shoes WWW - Thank you(maybe you'll get to but loads of glitter and pink in the not too distant future! )

I got a space hopper for a 4 yr old party tomorrow, they are £5 in ELC. My 4 yr old got 2 for her birthday!!

WWW - you are the best! Went straight to woolies -got the shoes ( lovely purple sparkly ones with a fluffy pink heart on the front!)only £3.99 (which then begged the question of what else to buy - but found some Barbie stickers close by and made a quick decision!).
Minor problem that they were inhato accost woman with appropriate sized daughter and ask what size her shoes were! Was all worth it as recipient absolutely loved them and wore them throughout the party ( despite being a size too big!)

Batters - I think I shall be following your advice re-advance buying ( have noted elc space hopper and Accesorize pink stuff to add to buying list!) as the Party invitations start to gather pace - I can't stand this sort of stress every time!

Bayeaf, I'm so glad they went down well! I should be getting a trade discount, I've bought so many - fab aren't they? You're right, I'd love this one to be a girl so I could buy glittery sparkly things
