When you are using a question mark at the end of a sentance where do you put the full stop.

Have confused brain now and both look wrong.

Dont be shy give it a try.

The question mark is the full stop (I think)

FigmentOfYourImagination · 06/05/2009 20:54

You do not use a full stop and a question mark together. The question mark acts as the full stop.

(same with exclamation marks)

madlentileater · 06/05/2009 20:56

That's correct!
The same applies to exclamation marks, doesn't it?

: ? ! all have a full stop in them
; has a comma within it.

No need to double up on punctuation.

No space in English.

But oddly the French always put spaces before question and exclamation marks.

FigmentOfYourImagination · 06/05/2009 21:08

no space. My mistake!
