Does anyone believe a word Michael Howard says?

Or Tony Bliar for that matter?

OP posts:
Rowlers · 28/04/2005 22:21

I don't hate or mistrust Tony.
In fact I like him a lot.
He is clearly the only one of the three with the nous to run the country.
Why the hell should he know that a bunch of gps are misinterpreting NHS targets?
What a bunch of rude people in the audience who had clearly already made up their minds anyway.
A disappointing show only because the audience was so useless - no question provoked or tested any of them really.
David Dimbleby is fab too.

puddle · 28/04/2005 22:21

he looks worn out and was cruising it I thought. Didn't see the other two so couldn't compare. I thought it only really came alive when they were talking about grants.

RTKangaMummy · 28/04/2005 22:21

I missed that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what did he do????????????

velcrobott · 28/04/2005 22:23

I thought Kennedy gave a good performance. I get frustrated at the fact that people won't vote outside of Labour or conservative.... both parties need to be on the benches (sidelines) for a while.... to refresh themselves me thinks!

Elf1981 · 28/04/2005 22:23

Out of interest - lots of letting off steam on this thread about TB and MH... how many of you will vote Lib Dem, or will you still be swayed towards TB & MH?

I'm a self confessed Lib Demmer, and this is only the second time I am able to vote. CK just strikes me as somebody who knows what he's talking about and appears very honest, unlike some others.

And any party that opposes the war with Iraq, especially right from the beginning, has my vote. It's okay MH saying now that Iraq was wrong, his bloody party was in agreement with going to war!

morningpaper · 28/04/2005 22:24

Puddle you're right. Thing is, on the grant front, the Labour policy makes the most sense of all of them IMO.

They just had a bunch of students who wanted more beer money.

velcrobott · 28/04/2005 22:25

I'll vote lib dem this time but in my constituancy it's so blue there are no other colour

RTKangaMummy · 28/04/2005 22:25

JT please tell me what happened

green shirt and MH

morningpaper · 28/04/2005 22:25

I have to vote LibDem because I'm in a constituency that Labour can't win.

But secretly I'm a bit pleased (but don't tell DH).

Rowlers · 28/04/2005 22:25

Talk about a cult of personality!
It's not just the leader we vote for rather the politics of the party they represent no?

puddle · 28/04/2005 22:26

I'm voting labour. For their domestic policies rather than foreign obviously. I

RTKangaMummy · 28/04/2005 22:26

Round here is also BLUE BLUE

RTKangaMummy · 28/04/2005 22:28

jt what happened????????????????????

puddle · 28/04/2005 22:30

MP I think he demolished that student! I was comparing him tonight with what his performance during the when he did the 'masochism'tour of the tv studios re: Iraq. I watched a couple of 'Tony meets the people' debates then. I may not have agreed with him but there was no doubting the passion there - he really believed he was doing the right thing. Haven't seen much of that from him in this campaign.

JoolsToo · 28/04/2005 22:31

kanga - he was an asylum seeker and was giving MH grief - called him some quite nasty names - shouting and bawling - (Dimblebum was having trouble controlling him) - as did a caller on Jeremy Vine today 'you of all people as a Jew ..... using your grandmothers death in the camps ......' - no need imho

JoolsToo · 28/04/2005 22:32

btw the same guy was shouting out at the end - didn't you see him?

HappyDaddy · 28/04/2005 22:33

The thing is that it's easy for the Lib Dems to be the most honest because they know they aren't going to be elected in.

JoolsToo · 28/04/2005 22:35

mp doesn't seem right really - you're in a seat that Labour can't win - I'm in a Tory/Lib Dem marginal!

RTKangaMummy · 28/04/2005 22:35

Oh yes did see that

I thought you meant someone got up to try to hit MH

JoolsToo · 28/04/2005 22:35

I think he would have done given the chance!

HappyDaddy · 28/04/2005 22:35

I haven't seen this tonight but I do respect Blair's willingness to be shredded by the voters, in front of cameras. He comes across, to me anyway, as someone who really believes that what he is doing is right and the best for the country.

MH is slime and the Lib Dems are a poor alternative.

RTKangaMummy · 28/04/2005 22:35

Thanks JT

velcrobott · 28/04/2005 22:36

Well that's because no one wants to vote for them as the usually only vote for the other 2. My own neighbour will vote labour though he thinks lib dem are better because they have no chance ! I am sure he is not alone, actually I know he is not alone.

wordsmith · 28/04/2005 23:01

I was impressed by Charles Kennedy and I will vote Lib Dem, always have done beacuse I agree with their policies virtually totally. It's very unlikely they will get in in my constituency but if you don't vote according to your beliefs why bother voting at all. What is the point in voting for someone just because you think they're most likely to get in?

I thought the student was fab. I got free education and the thought of my boys leaving college £20K in debt makes my blood run cold. But paying an extra 2% on income tax over a certain amount probably would make very little differec to my way of life but could pay for the higher education I received in the 1980's. And yes I would pay it now.

wordsmith · 28/04/2005 23:03

HappyDaddy, yes I believe Blair is genuine and believes what he says. But i don't agree with him. Maggie Thatcher was a conviction politician too.
