what to buy a fab mum?

my mum has been such a fantastic help recently that I wanted to get her a surprise present (something delivered but not the usual flowers). She has looked after DS loads recently when I've had to do extra work (I work freelance so it can be slightly unpredictable). She's not really into very swanky, glamourous, pampering things (like I would be!)

Any ideas? I thought of a really nice hamper? but anything else.

What about a Colour me beautiful consultation. A bit pricey (£60 plus)but fantastic - dh got me one for Christmas and it has made a massive difference to how I shop and the colours I wear.
They have a pretty basis website but you can get details of your local consultant and ring for advice.

Does she like wine? Loads of good wine websites that can deliver if you want. Hampers are nice as long as they have what you want in them. Maybe something really practical that might not sound to fantastic but is just what she wants. Does she need chairs to sit outdoors in (as the weather is so nice at the moment). I bought my parents some folding chairs that they take to watch my brother play cricket. As I say kind of boring but if it is just what she wants then it might do the trick.

How about something made by your ds. He could paint something for her which you could frame. Inexpensive and sentimental all at the same time. We have a shop near us which allows you to paint, mozaic etc onto pottery, they fire it and present it back to you. I put my ds's feet and hand prints on a platter for mum which she just loves.

I'll shut up now as I'm typing as I think and jabbering on as usual.

My mum is like this. And she doesn't like flowers or ornaments either. What a pain! (we used to buy her Forero Rocher every year until she sat us all down and told us she didn't like them).

But how about a book (from Amazon)? Also I second the wine idea. I do know an excellent vineyard in Spain that will ship a case of Rioja anywhere in the world for about £3 a bottle (but it tatses like it costs 4 times that much) - if you need the web address let me know and I'll look it up.

How about Jo Malone stuff - pricey, but well worth it and a real treat for her....

Something related to a hobby? Gardening/ patchwork or whatever she likes to do? You could buy from a website and deliver direct to your mother.
