I am the GM - I have no clue whatsoever - I would have bought a girl jewelery for when older but really stuck for ideas for a boy...TIA xxx

how much roughly?

I bought a boy of a similar age a wooden noahs's ark, a bit like this
There are plenty of similar products if this is a bit too expensive.
Got a religious theme, nice wooden toy.
My friend's DS got 6 money boxes when he was christened, so I might try and avoid that!

DS was given a silver shristening spoon - it's not actually useful for anything, but he really values it all the same.

Or a nice children's book of Bible stories, assuming you think "Christening" has some connection to "Christianity" of course

When I was made GM to my darling GS, I bought him a swiss army knife and got it engraved with his name on. Strictly for use when they are older but a lovely keepsake gift, and come at all sorts of prices.

A set of nice books. We bought the Wind in the Willow series for a friend's son. Or you could get a set of Beatrix Potter or Winne the Pooh or similar?

I sent a photo of my sister's little girl to an artist (not sure that's the correct term in English?) and had him make a pencil drawing of her from the photo - really nice.

When I was christened I received a present from my GM that I was not allowed to open until my communion - it contained newspapers and magazines from the day of my christening, coins, photos etc. - also a good idea, I think.

If you would have given a girl jewellery, how about a fob watch, or normal watch that he can wear when he's older.

A set of nice children's china - Emma Bridgewater does lovely boy's stuff. Wooden things for his room - bookends / height chart / chair with name on / clock. Also nice wooden toys - NOah's Ark mentioned earlier a good idea... you can also get beautiful big wooden fire engines for about £60. Classic books like Narnia set.
