Congratulations tabsmum! It must be a relief to hit the 12-week mark. There are a couple of other threads on here on maternity wear - eg this one www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=49&threadid=6202&stamp=030304135836. Whereabouts in the country do you do your shopping?

SamboM · 14/04/2003 15:30

Congratulations! What do you call reasonably priced? I thought H&M did good cheap mat wear, it falls apart fairly fast but let's face it you only need it for a short time. Blooming Marvellous do quite nice slightly smarter stuff but some of it is fairly expensive. Mothercare's stuff is pretty awful, more like granny wear I thought. My favorite things were acutally not mat wear, I bought some linen trousers from East with a very elasticated waist in a size too big and they lasted me for ages (before and after!)

Congratulations! Are you set on buying new stuff, if not, have you considered eBay (on-line auctions)( www.ebay.co.uk)?
I had loads of excellent quality maternity clothing which I sold on eBay. As SamboM says, you wear it for such a short time.. and some of it is SO expensive.

Tabsmum - congratulations! I found John Lewis pretty good and Hennes. Agree Mothercare is sooo old and Next maternity is huge for some reason!

I found Dorothy Perkins were really good. Lets not even mention Mothercare.Yuck.Congratulations tabsmum.

Asda have just started doing Maternity wear too.

Congratulations! I found Next had quite a good range, and is one of the few places that do Petite maternity - which I need.

Try Laura Ashley sale rail...non of it is maternity but elasticated waists are very generous and it has the advantage of being wearable afterwards. I'm now 7 months preganant and wear my L Ashley skirts still and they don't feel tight!
By the way, look carefully because they are not all floral and mumsy!

JoJo Maman Bebe was nice and I only needed a few things because they were good quality. Mothercare is dreadful, all polyester and frumpy. I also had some loose shirts and skirts from East which I could wear afterwards. My experience is to invest in a few quality bottom half pieces and use baggy shirts and tops just in larger sizes. They will still be useful after the birth and then if you are breastfeeding.
Good luck!

I agree with Mouli that JoJo Maman Bebe have great clothes that lasted me throughout. Blooming Marvellous also good. I didn't particularly like Next maternity as the fit was wrong for me. For cheap-but-cheerful Tesco do a great line eg Jeans for £9.99.
