grobags versus duvet for toddler

hi
sorry if this has been covered before - i have searched but couldn't find similar thread.
DS is 18months and needs new grobag but I'm thinking of getting duvet instead. Anyone got a toddler duvet?, if so, where from, did your DS/DD like it?
grobag is good because he moves around so much I'm thinking he will get cold with duvet but at some point in next 6-12 months we'll be moving him to a bed so I thought maybe I should go for the duvet?

Can't add anything katierocket, except I'm in the same situation. Did buy a larger grobag for dd, as she's now 23mths, and has been in it a little while. However, looking to put her into a bed in the summer, and was wandering, like you, whether to use grobag or duvet in bed. Maybe a duvet, so she can get up and walk around in the am ........ on second thoughts!!!

The plus to a grobag is the child can't kick it off like he could a duvet. If your child sleeps happily in a grobag, definitely go for another. My experience was DS couldn't manage to pull up covers at night until almost 3yo.

If you have friends who are travelling to France or Germany they might be able to pick you up a sleep sac cheap. Else, I was going to suggest kiddycare, but found a negative review for them on dooyoo! Perhaps Snugger is a decent alternative?

We had a duvet for Ds since he was 13 months old and he has always been very 'snug' in it. (He's now 20 months) We got it from Mothercare . Also now the weather is chopping and changing he can kick it off to suit his needs.

I feel he's always been happy with his duvet and I don't think he's ever woken up because he was cold.

The only problem with it is it could be an expensive 'mistake' (you've got to get the covers as well!)

If you're thinking about moving him to a bed, how about an ordinary single bed duvet? Even if he doesn't get on with it now, you can use it when he's a bit older. You can get them quite cheaply (cheaper than a lot of the cot-sized ones). A friend of mine used one in her dd's cot before she moved to a bed, no problems.

ta for the input. Think I'll order another grobag in bigger size but maybe give the single duvet a go and see how we get on.

DS has an ordinary single duvet, but a very thin one, and we fold it in half and put it on across his toddler bed. Obviously you need a duvet cover design which works this way round (ours is just multicoloured stripes).

IKEA cot duvets are great- and cheap. Having done ds1 it is now onto ds2. We have a cotbed sized cot and it fits perfectly.

I put ds2 (19 mths) in a fleecy sleepsuit over his pyjamas, as he always kicks covers off. This keeps him warm, but he can stand up and walk around in it if he wakes up.
