sorry to hear that, dont worry, when your lo goes to school and brings home pics and cards he has made then it ll really feel special. at the moment he doesnt understand mothers day anyway, (it is selfish of you DP not to get you anything tho, it would have been a nice thought)

hope you feel better tho, dont let yourself get too worked up, just have a kiss and a cuddle of ds instead!!

Nellie, not only have I had nothing (for my first Mother's Day) but DP has taken his DD pottery painting, where no doubt she will make something for her mum, and he refused to take our DS with them, which would give me a bit of a break this afternoon. He could even have stuck his handprints on something for me, eh?

So I am spending the afternoon cooking dinner for me, DP and his two DDs (other one at some practice or other this afternoon) whilst entertaining DS. Oh, and he buggered off fishing all day yesterday. And double OH, I took the selfish shit to Madrid last week for his birthday and I don't recall him even saying thank you. Bitter? Twisted? Full of piss and vinegar? You bet your ass I am.

On the other hand, DS is being especially gorgeous today, and laughing lots, which has made me feel a lot better. I still want to string his father up by his knackers though.

Sainsburys was full of glum looking men clutching wilting bunches of flowers earlier!!! Am guessing those are the ones who 'forgot' and got into trouble!!

My dd had no pocket money left so couldn't afford anything so I got a homemade card from her with a promise inside that her gift to me is to clear up the garage!! Best gift ever!

Nothing here either. Ex P was kicked out at new year and he refused to see the children all this week, and as they are 2yrs and 6mo's I wasn't really expecting a card from them. DS missed making mothers day cards at toddler group this week as he was poorly. But as I have 2 super cute DC's I think I can live without a card, and they're both napping at the moment.

Lawks · 22/03/2009 14:08

Not a thing. Think everyone forgot!

If it matters that much to you that you get something then do something about it.

I sat down dd with some card and her paints on Friday.
I bought myself some chocolate and bubble bath last week and gave them to dh to give to dd to give to me.

Sorted.

Exactly what I wanted and everyone is happy.

Meglet · 22/03/2009 20:42

Yay! I went to my mums for tea and as she is so fab she had got a little card for the DC's to give to me. Obviously I burst into tears [happy].

He still hasn't 'got it' that I would like a card or something that my dc have made with him, I don't need a pressie. But he always gets away with it by bringing me breakfast in bed - scrambled eggs with cheese and chives, home made bread, jam, cup of tea and freshly squeezed oj which children helped him to make. I just have to cherish that memory.

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 26/03/2009 11:08

I got a present that I ordered for myself - but I was really (possibly ridiculously so) upset about my card. It was obviously intended for a teenager to give to their parents, and said on the front (paraphrasing): 'Mum, if you hadn't had me think of the all the things you'd be missing out on...' and then inside it said, 'All the stress, worry and anxiety'.

Dd is 22mo.
