It has started to pick up really bad static on each of the channels. We have tried switching it off and unplugging it for a bit but to not avail.

Anyone know what to do or do we need to get a new monitor?

I had one. Same problem.

It has only just started doing it, it has been fine all this time up until now. DD is now nearly 16mo (PFB and I still need to use it lol)

I know it sounds nuts but when ours did this it was because of dust in the volume button on the parent unit . A good blow sorted it . (But it was 2 yrs old!).
Worth a try

Righto will give that a go, thank you.

I know it's no help tonight but it's worth phoning the manufacturer's helpline in the morning. The number should be on the instructions. I don't have mine to hand so can't give you the number myself. Don't worry about still using the monitor for a 16month old, our dd has just turned 18months and we still use ours every day. 'Tis a pfb thing I'm afraid!!

Glad it's not just us then Norfolk, DH would happily get rid TBH but it's okay for him he can hear DD from our room and from downstairs (he has great hearing). I however cannot hear her move or breath even with the monitor on, so the ticking sound that comes with the sensor pad means I can rest easy (really looking forward to having my hearing aids fitted on Wednesday now). I dread the day I have to give it up.

I couldn't give my monitor up til she was 2.5 yo and yelling "MUMMY!!!" at the top of her voice!!

insertwittynicknameHERE · 15/03/2009 22:13

lol smurfette15, I can imagine that will be me. DD2 is due in July and DH keeps saying 'oh we will just get DD1 a normal monitor, then DD2 can use this one'. In my head I am thinking 'no way mister, think what you like but we are getting another sensor pad monitor alright'

I dare him to argue with a hormonal pg she bitch (apparently I can be quite snappy when I am pg)

I gave in when DS was born in Dec so my monitor obsession isn't over!!

I've remembered that I also had to clear the little microphone hole on the nursery unit too.

We actually ended up getting an Angelcare monitor (with sensor pad ) when DS was born.

Good luck

lol, what is the agelcare one like, I was having a look and want one TBH.

I really like it. The movement sensor is a beeping rather then a ticking. It's fancier then the TT as it alarms if room too hot/cold. I prefer the night light too. I like it more then the TT and the best thing is that the parent unit is rechargeable so you don't have to keep replacing the batteries

insertwittynicknameHERE · 16/03/2009 18:29

Will probably get one now actually, I can always use it for DD2.
