Mothers Day present in hospital

My mum's been in hospital for around 3 months due to complications following a cancer op; she may be in for some months. She's mid-60s and otherwise fit and active but seeing as she's in hospital and so can't have things like flowers, I'm a bit stuck for ideas for Mothers Day. Can anyone offer any inspiration?

Does she like music, could you afford an I-POD?

dp was in hossy long term recently and I downloaded all his favourite music and bought a wall charger for it.

Would she sneer at a nice cardi/bed jackety type thing?

Or stuff like a pretty nightie/pyjamas,or a digital radio (I think you would have to get the hospital estates department to check the plug etc).

does she have a DVD player thingy?? maybe one of those, and some DVDs.

expensive I know, but if I was in hospital for some months something to watch of my choice would be wonderful.

Where I work they provide DVD players for pts as our boss thought the Patientline thing a rip-off for long stay pts,so DVDs a good idea,is she able to read books (No eyesight issues etc) maybe some novels?

r.e. DVD player, you usually have to get the hospital's electrics dept to check and okay any electrical equipment (like your own cd player or hair dryer from home) before you can use it on the ward, so if you're considering anything electric give the ward a ring and find out the procedure

if she cant eat then her mouth and lips will be very dry so how about nice lip balms?

My SIL is a mobile Beauty Therapist. When my nan was in Hospital for a while, she came into the Hospital and gave her a neck and shoulder massage and then a hand massage and did her nails. My nan said it realy lifted her spirits. I had to ask permission for her to come but the nurses where lovely and thought it was a great idea.

Tas1 - Cancer is usually a contraindication for massage

However, your post made me think of someting similar - a mobile hairdresser maybe?
