Furball, you are a wicked woman. I am sat here in a messy house, with a very messy kitchen, washing up and ironing to be done and what am I doing? Drinking wine and reading about Trumpton! Aint life grand?

I've just bought DS1 Willow the Wisp, Button Moon and the Flumps on video. My mum has Bagpuss for him. Needless to say he isn't terribly impressed! I do remember the Bananasplits but dont' think I was terribly into them. Anyone remember The Moomins (I think that is what they were called, sort of hippo things)?

sprout · 09/04/2003 08:33

Grommit, Barbapapa is still going strong in the French-speaking world! Very sad...

SoupDragon · 09/04/2003 08:37

Trumpton! Camberwick Green! Mr Ben! And of course, the Clangers

Ah, memories...

breeze · 09/04/2003 09:56

While we are remembering things, I need to know that name of the programme that was on about 7 years ago, bbc 1, its was a series about wrestling, it had lesley joseph and steve hartley in it (just to name a few) I was talking about this years ago with someone and have been trying to find the name since.

Clarinet60 · 09/04/2003 16:55

The moomins were so wonderful. I commissioned my SIL to paint a picture of them on DS's wall and I still have all the books.

Champion The Wonderhorse, On White Horses .......
and loved The Double Deckers.

WideWebWitch · 10/04/2003 09:01

White Horses was really badly dubbed wasn't it? I remember Champion the wonder horse too and wanted to sing the theme tune as soon as I saw it written down!

WideWebWitch · 10/04/2003 09:04

So for anyone who thought the same, the theme tune to Champion the wonder horse is here!

There's a moomin museum in Tampere in Finland - went there a couple of years ago.

The author sadly died last year.

Size of an Elephant!

bouncy · 10/04/2003 17:37

Breeze, I remember the programme, there was a bald man who died shortly after filming, but sorry can't remember its name. It was on a saturday evening though about 5 pm (if that jogs anyones memory)

Snugs · 11/04/2003 12:40

Ah, so the bald bloke must be Brian Glover, who was a wrestler before he was an actor - he died in 1997. I am intrigued (never saw the programme in question) so am off to Google.

Snugs · 11/04/2003 13:06

breeze - the only thing I can find that had Brian Glover and Lesley Joseph in it was a programme called 'Rumble' but I can't find any info about the show so don't know if it's the one you're looking for.

baggie · 11/04/2003 13:23

thanks for the link wickedwaterwitch. I cannot believe I downloaded and listened to it! I also cannot believe that I missed a westling programme with Lesley Joseph, how bizaare?

breeze · 11/04/2003 13:23

Snugs, Thank you ever so much. I remember having this conversation with someone when I worked, that was over 3 years ago and have been bugging people since. Your a Star

I only watched one episode, biggest load of crap I have ever seen.

susanmt · 11/04/2003 16:48

I've got Clangers and Bagpuss videos and dd is currently very into the clangers, she can understand what they are saying!
I also loved Andy Pandy (HATE the new cbeebies version), Fingerbobs, Mr Ben and the Flumps. Does anyone else remember 'Chorlton and the Wheelies'?

Clarinet60 · 11/04/2003 23:22

Thanks Donnie, that was good.
Phillipat, sad news (death of Tove Jansson/Johansson?), shame it seemed to bypass the national news (unless I wasn't listening)

Rhiannon · 21/04/2003 16:02

NOWWW- my next door neighbour's best friend married Tiger. Wonder if you all know each other? Southampton Uni apparently.

Finbar · 21/04/2003 20:09

I met Tiger courtesy of my friend whwo was studying with her at Teacher training college in Southampton....when I say met, my friend pointed her out in a queue and I sheepishly looked over and was gobsmacked - she looked exactly the same - I was thrilled !!...however, I understand she wasn't too keen on people remembering her past!

NQWWW · 22/04/2003 15:45

Rhiannon - they would know my ex, not me - I only met him after he left Southampton and he never introduced us (don't know if he even kept in touch with her).
