I need to write a goodbye email to my colleagues at work (I've been there for over a decade). Basically I'm being made redundant (along with others). Firm has acted shoddily in the whole redundancy process - both in terms of procedure and all the bosses ignoring anyone being made redundant since the announcement was made. It has been interesting as some colleagues have turned out to be wonderfully supportive whereas I've been amazed at some others who I thought were nice colleagues who have treated me like a bad smell since the process started. So what I'd like to do is find an elegant and eloquent way to say "goodbye and thank you all the nice people" "my goodness how dodgy my employer has turned out to be after all this time and how disappointing my bosses are after all my effort over so many years" and finally "amazing that some of you turned out to be so two-faced". Can anyone find a way to say all that nicely so that it's a bit of a reading-between-the-lines email? And no, emailing just a few is not really an option it's everyone or noone.

Hmm
I'm thinking of something along the lines of "I appreciate the support I've been shown in the last..."
Sounds sincere for the nice ones and sarky for the idiots. Or could you not send a bland email to all and then a follow up to a select few?
Do you have another job to go to? Sorry you're in this position

Be careful cos you could be pissing off someone who might be writing you a reference one day..!!

You could write aong the lines of how much it meant ot you to have the support of x, y and z (if you can name them) and say how wonderful they have been. Or wish everyone luck for the future and walk away with your head held high. you could always than people personally before you go of they have been especially good or send them a card/email when you get your new high flying job!

Oh, I feel for you, redundancy really is a horrible experience. But Dittany's right, better to rise above the spineless people. If you try to write more complicated than 'so long and thanks' it will only look bitter ? won't make the pathetic creeps feel guilty at all. They are just relieved not to be in your shoes.

Suppose you could say something about 'thanks very much to all the people who offered support' which leaves the possibility open that not everyone fell into this camp.

I would definitely only write something positive.

Even your supporters could be if you sink to petty levels, understandable though it would be.

Your last email may be the last memory some/most will have of you, so make it a good one!

If you must say something, at the very MOST I would hint ie "To those who have supported me so loyally, I would like to give my thanks as it meant a lot during this difficult time", etc.

Always end on a positive note.

Great minds, edam!

Ok, ok you're all so sensible (and no doubt right). Anyone fancy doing a skeleton for me as I am really not in a good mood about a "nice" email at all but would prefer to write a bit more than "Bye + thanks to those who supported me".
