Hate being put on the spot - what would you do?

i'm a mumsnet regular but have chanegd my name because lots of my friends (and possibly this one) use mumsnet!!

i'm holding a meeeting at my house which starts at 8pm, one of the people coming has asked if they can bring there DS (3) with them. my DS will be asleep. I don't think meetings are the place for small active toddlers!!

what would you say?

i wouldn't ask in the first place would have just cried off.

if your friend could easily leave DS with their partner, then no. if your friend couldn't easily arrange childcare then would grit my teeth and say yes. (stick him in another room with a video????)

I'd say no. Hard as it would be, I'd def say no. What a ridiculous request!

would the toddler be likely to be asleep? If so, could be put under a blanket in the corner and ignored for the meeting. Is it important that his parent comes to the meeting?

don't have another room to stick child in my DS will be asleep up stairs and is a quite a light sleeper and DH will be hiding in our room to avoid the meeting!!

i'm not being unreasonable not wanting a small child playing in the room where we are trying to have a meeting, am i?
