Club Penguin - is it worth getting DS paid membership?

DS (5.5y) has been playing on club penguin on and off for about a year. He doesn't use it that often - and his literacy skills aren't up for conversing with other penguins. Up til now he's been quite happy with the free options but now he's hassling me for a paid membership so he can buy things for his puffle and so his penguin "doesn't have to walk around naked!". I'm loathe to shell out £4 a month so he can buy virtual clothes for a virtual creature. Has anyone got any advice or maybe even a promo code so we could try it out?

Mine got bored with it quite quickly.

I brought my dd a gift voucher for a months membership of club penguin so I wouldn't have to commit to paying £4 every month. The gift voucher cost £4 for 30 days membership and I brought it in Woolies. Don't know where you could get one from now, but I only brought it 2 months ago.

She got bored of it quickly, so maybe it was just as well to have only got one months membership.

Just checked and you can buy one months gift certificate in Toys-r-us and Sainsburys.

DS1 is 8 and was a member for a long time but lots of his friends were on there too, so they used to meet ip and vsit each others igloos.
Not sure if a 5 yr old would get as much out of it?

alright treacle!
i got a voucher 2 from sainsburys (on gift card stand).
my ds is 7 and enjoys dressing his penguin, decorating his igloo and entering restricted zones.
you could use the card as a reward for good school reports or fantastic behaviour.
it works a treat much better than a pack of sweets!
my ds has to be good for a whole month with out getting 5 x's on his calendar.
it will also help him with computer & literacy skills.
