DS has barely eaten anything for days - what can I give him?

DS, who is nearly 3, has hardly eaten for the past few days. He does have a bit of a cold, but nothing major (he went to pre-school today). All I have managed to get him to eat was porridge last night (after not eating dinner. I did him chips as a treat and he didn't touch them) and porridge this morning and 2 biscuits yesterday. I made him 'luke warm' chocolate yesterday after playing in the snow and he didn't want that either What can I give him to eat if he won't even eat treats? Is porridge enough? I guess I could add stewed apple to it but he is so slim anyway...

soup?

BCNS · 04/02/2009 13:42

my mum always used to do a clear chicken soup with croutons.. I now do the same for mine.. it's the bobbing croutons that is the clincher here!..

failing that.. banana milk shake with a straw?? or jelly maybe..

Does he actually ask for anything? My 2 year old recently spent weeks living off milk and dry cereals when he was ill, we just went with it and gave up worrying, he ate when he was ready.

Rice pudding?
Make up a smoothie?

ice cream? Plenty of calories and easy to eat if he doesn't mind the cold.

Porridge is good though. If you're worried you could get some vitamin drops and mix them in?

I don't think he'd eat soup but I'll try. Only have tins in the cupboard but it's better than nothing I guess. He isn't asking for food. He gets excited when it's cooking or I'm making it but then doesn't eat it.

if he doesnt like soup try zizzing it smooth and giving him bread and butter to dip into it.

I'll tell DH to bring home some ice cream , milkshake, straws and vitamins. I found an abandoned chocolate covered biscuit earlier, it's just not like him

poor wee soul. make sure he is keeping his fluids up.

Have you tried getting him to decorate a biscuit, or a cup cake or something? Ds always eats more when he knows that he has helped to make things.

How is he today? Hope he's feeling better now.

And I've just realised who you are!
