We have just given a forever home to two four month old kittens. One is quite small and jet black and the other is white with black bits He is bigger and has a pink ear

Any ideas????

Also did not realise how erxpensive they would be!!!!

What sex are they?

Freddie & Charlie

Witch & Chips

I am very as we can't have cats atm where we live is far too dangerous (fast country road - many feline casualties).

1legmummy · 01/02/2009 19:28

oh poor you, said I would not have any more I lost my lady of 16 years a month ago, but left a hole in our family.

They are both boysxx

peppa and George!!

slayerette · 03/02/2009 18:49

We adopted two before Christmas! Girl and boy, white n black girl and ginger boy. They are called Gwen and Arthur - DS was watching Merlin when they joined our home [sigh].

You need a pair of names - our old cats were called Gilbert and Sullivan!

PinkTulips · 03/02/2009 18:51

Smudge for the black one

can't think of anything for the other.... am useless at naming and usually let the kids do it

fruitshootsandheaves · 03/02/2009 19:01

pepsi and cola

barack and obama!

Jux · 03/02/2009 19:01

don't call them names that go together, every single pair I've met who have 'pair' names end up with one having an accident...

fruitshootsandheaves · 03/02/2009 19:02

oh thats my names out then!

I had a bubble and a squeak they died of old age

1legmummy · 03/02/2009 19:16

We have chosen Archie and Ozzy, phew thank goodness we did not choose "pair" names I would have had to change them xx

fruitshootsandheaves · 03/02/2009 19:17

oh my new puppy is called Ozzy! good choice!

NutterlyUts · 03/02/2009 19:26

The best cat names I have ever come across were Deely and Mandu. Utter genius

muppetgirl · 03/02/2009 19:31

one of my uni friends had fish called spit and swallow, always made me giggle...

pamplemousse · 03/02/2009 19:35

Nutterly, that took me ages to work out, I am a bit slow today!! I love mandu

1legmummy · 03/02/2009 19:36

Now thats funny did not get Mandu till I said it

Now what do you think of this, got them from a shelter, we went to collect them and were told £40.00 each, we knew there would be a donation but it was a bit of an ouch.

Then we were told they had not had their innoculations (another £50.00 each) then at 6 months spayed (another £50.00 each) AND they had to be kept indoors till spayed.

By this time they were in our cat basket waiting to escape.

We know cats cost money but at moment we are not exactly flush and we thought they would have injections at least.

Do I just accept it or would you ask for help and if I did what would I say?

Felt such an idiots standing there open mouth but they are so gorgeous we could not leave them there

Disenchanted3 · 03/02/2009 19:38

We had ...

Roary and Ozzy

Meeko and Milo

when i was younger.

pamplemousse · 03/02/2009 19:41

I thought places like Cats Protection ask £40 plus but that is because they are already neutered and vaccinated... ?
They should have said beforehand imo also most rescues get discounts for spaying/neutering as a help and an incentive to get it done.

NutterlyUts · 03/02/2009 19:42

If they are definately both male or both female, you have a bit of leeway for spay/neuter if you make sure they remain house cats.

Find out if your chosen vet has a friends club or similar where you pay a small amount each month for wormers/flea meds/reduced consulting fees and routine ops. If they don't, see if they do a credit agreement where you can have them both vaccinated and spay/neutered and pay x amount a month.

Also, if you can, I'd suggest starting pet insurance. It won't cover spay/neuter, vaccinations etc, but will cover you if anything happens like a tail being trapped in a door or something

merlin · 03/02/2009 19:46

Bundle and Merlin

(Can you tell where I got my nickname fron?!! )

merlin · 03/02/2009 19:46

From!

1legmummy · 03/02/2009 19:50

yep doing pet insurance as a must, but just thought it was a bit out of order to not even vaccinate.

Really want them, but still recovering from our builder conning us out of £64,000.00 last January

So money is a bit tight at mo thats all

ho hum, another of lifes lessons learnt

slayerette · 03/02/2009 20:19

That is a bit surprising. We got our pair from the RSPCA - £45 each but cat flu jabs done (we had to get leukaemia done ourselves though before they could go into the cattery at New Year). We got vouchers towards the neutering as well - doesn't cover the whole cost but definitely makes it less painful!

1legmummy · 03/02/2009 20:49

oh looks like I will have to ask them

OP posts:
serin · 03/02/2009 23:03

TomTom and SatNav are the names my DS's picked for their fantasy kittens.

misspudding · 04/02/2009 02:16

TomTom, funny you say that Serin. One of my ctas is called Tomy or as ds calls him: tomtom !

PinkTulips · 04/02/2009 11:09

when i got a kitten from a shelter 5/6 years ago it was 50 euros and he'd only had his first vacs, we got a 10 euro off voucher towards the neutering too.

an adult cat would have been 60 euros but would have been fully vaccinated and neutered.

ds named our felmale black and white; Blue and dd named our little b&w kitten Petey. dp who should know better called the third cat Muggs after the producer in Cypress Hill [sigh]

it's a testament to how even the daftest names can be gotton used to though that they all suit their names now!
