I visited my GP at 9am this morning to check whether the excessive weariness etc I'm experiening is simply a by product of motherhood.

It has (literally) just occurred to me that I forgot to mention my frequent lapses of memory...

Oh, I laughed. Couldn't believe I'd forgotten to tell him I keep forgetting things.

Going back for blood tests to check everything but he reckons it could well be simply the relentless nature of motherhood.

TOO MUCH CAKE-MAKING - YOU'RE PUTTING US OTHER SAHM'S TO SHAME

SoupDragon · 05/04/2005 18:44

Yes, Mothercod, I'm eating properly and getting 9 hours of sleep a night. I'm not really worried about my health, just wondered when I could stop blaming motherhood for it.

In my case I blame my tiredness on old age

SoupDragon · 05/04/2005 18:50

DS2 is 4 and I kind of thought the tiredness would have gone by now. He's been sleeping through for 3 years for a start!!

I nearly hugged my doctor when he noted my DOB on the blood test form and said "ah, a recent one" when he wrote the year in.

Oh no, I'm an very rare visitor to my GP. He was commenting on my youth, I'm certain.

Now bog off, FishFace.

"Calm efficiency" is nore like a strict matron I think.

Not sure that anyone has ever told me my DSs are a credit to me. GP took one look at DS2 and said my tiredness was probably just motherhood.

Argh, you mean in 3 years time I'm still going to feel this tired?!!!!

sob

marthamoo · 06/04/2005 09:27

I have a horrible feeling that tiredness is part and parcel of being a grown-up. I am always tired. Sometimes I am falling down tired and sometimes I am just a bit tired but I am never 'not' tired. Depressing isn't it? When you're a child you think that being a grown-up is all about eating a whole cake to yourself and staying up all night and having pots of money so you can buy anything you want when the truth is it's just about being constantly knackered.

GeorginaA · 06/04/2005 09:30

Yeah, I remember when I was about 18/19 regularly staying up to around 1am without any issues and one night not bothering to go to sleep at all (okay, I was tired the next day but I was still able to function - I can't function now if I get a break in my 8 hours )

SoupDragon · 06/04/2005 09:32

The way my doctor put it is that fulltime (ie SAH) motherhood is relentless. As a GP, he himself is busy but gets breaks between patients. With motherhood, you're on alert 24/7.

He may have said more but I can't remember

My boys are 6 and 3 and I am still constantly tired.
I also find that if I do have a night out and get home late (which for anyone that knows me in RL will know it's not that late) that is the night when one of them will wet the bed/have a nightmare/wake at 5:30.
Sods law.
