ok, I am confused about car seats. I am confused about most things actually... but mostly car seats at the moment.

When thinking of moving DS from his stupid little infact carrier into a proper car seat, should I go by weight, or by age?
Or whichever comes first?

Lockets... do you like the iseos? I was gutted when it didn't fit in our car as I had decided it was the one I wanted ages before ds was born! It will go in ok forward facing, but wouldn't fit rearward.

Queeneagle... I think that's what will happen with DS.. he was 9lb 1 at birth and at 8 weeks is around 12lb. He is also quite long, and we have already had to move the straps up to the next set of holes to fit him in! LOL

All US car seats that I know of are rear-facing until 1 year, but they're proper car seats, not infant carriers. DD will be rear-facing in the car until she reaches the height/weight limits for rear-facing her seat, but she's been in a proper car seat since she outgrew the height limit on her infant seat at 4 months.

Having their legs squished up only matters if it bothers them (and most babies would rather have them squished then dangling). Accident studies don't show broken legs in rear-facing seats, and even if they did, better to break your leg than your neck.

that's why I liked the look of it Lockets... and the seat felt nice and squishy... the Britax one that you can get which is also birth-4 years was much harder in comparison.
Also liked the twiddly thing on the front which lets you lay the seat back smoothly so as not to disturb them!
