it still isn't doing what i want it to do!
I've had to replace the keyboard and the mouse already...AND HAVE NOW DISCOVERED ANOTHER FAULT ON MY KEYBOARD!
The people building it for me - to be honest - are really decent people and have had their shop in our local town for a good few years. However,i'm getting more than a little tetchy now. My hubbie knows alot about computers himself and is able to tell me what is going on etc.but still things aren't quite how i would like them to be.Now,apparently,I should have Windows 32 rather than 64 (?!) "as 32 seems to be working better with things than 64 etc."PLEASE if anyone has a 64 bit thingy can you clarify with me what they're trying to tell me....i'm a techno-phobe!

Bumping for you.

saggyhairyarse · 21/01/2009 18:07

Windows 64 is technically faster and can address more physical memory but the benefits are not worth installing it as it is not compatible with mainy commonly used applications because alot of applications are not 64bit.

That is what my DH said to tell you.

You need to run Vista or 32bit XP.

theITgirl · 21/01/2009 18:12

Don't run Vista - it's a pile of crap compared to XP but agree with 32 bit

paddingtonbear1 · 21/01/2009 18:16

Would second don't run Vista. Use XP. (agree with the 32 bit)
My laptop came with Vista and I'm not keen, the laptop is a good machine but Vista is slow. At work we are skipping it and waiting for Windows 7!

Yeah I'd go for XP 32bit and NOT 64bit. Nearly everything will be compatible that way and life will be simpler.
