Need to find info on seatbelts in minibuses. Specifically lap belts v. 3 point belts.

Also - most of what I have been able to find out says that children under 135 cm should be in suitable child restraint where poss - does that mean booster seats?

Subject came up at last PTA meeting and parents were asking why school buses have lap belts and not 3 point belts.

Yes means booster seats/booster cushions. My old school had to buy a stock for use in minibuses

Was that with lab belts or 3 point belts do you know nymphadora?

this has info

Thanks Seona - you linked to that for me before!

I need a bit more ammunition though as to why lap belts are seen as safe in minibuses. There will be someone who asks!

pretty sure lap belts wouldnt be safe

they arnt safe in cars so why should they ve safe in mini busses?

im pretty sure they can crash a childs internal organs.

a lap belt os obviosuly safer than no belt at all, but i wouldnt be happy with my child traveling in just a lap belt

all booster cushions i have ever come across are for use with a 3 point belt, NOT a lap belt

I've heard of lap belts being more likely to snap a spine in a high-speed crash. Would rather take my chances without. They get fitted on buses as they're cheaper and require a lot less modification to the seats
