Dolls' clothes

Anyone any bright ideas about where I can get some simple dolls' clothes for a baby doll? Both the doll and its owner are male, which doesn't help: most of the stuff I have seen in the shops has been pink and frilly. The doll itself is my old Sasha (30 something mums out there remember these?) who has been living in my parents' loft so long that his nappy and dungarees had to be hygienically disposed of. He came up nice and clean after a good scrub, however.

Marina, that's a difficult one. I assume you're after male or unisex dolls clothes? You can't have a Sasha boy doll dressed up to look like Lily Savage, can you?

How about trying craft markets - Greenwich, Spitalfiels etc and asking the children's clothes stall-holders if they could run up a coulple of things to order? Alternatively, try the premature baby range at Mothercare for authentic stuff. The stretchy sleep suits may fit a Sasha.

I had Sasha dolly too, Mary she was called, long blonde hair, (although hair is slightly shorter - Father Christmas never did bring me a Girls World to experiment on!)

Anyway, I was in London recently and nearly fell over when a saw a Mary in a glass cage with other Sachas and they are £100 plus. Nearly fell over. Mary would be worth a fortune if she was 'in good nick' apparently!

So then I thought I would buy Mary a new outfit, as she is currently living naked, but a dress was £30. Thank goodness its summer I say Mary!

There are plenty of knitting patterns available for dolls clothes, both male and female, and odd scraps of wool can be used so it doesn't have to cost a fortune. I made some for my grandchildren from bright green fluorescent wool and they thought the doll was designer dressed. If you don't have time to knit yourself, ask mum or mum-in-law!

I get dolls' clothes from charity shops - I just buy new born size baby grows. However, I don't know how big Sasha dolls are so I may be completely useless here!

Tee hee EMS, I'd heard they were worth a bit these days too. But £30 for some clothes for him? Help! This is a baby Sasha, so he's much smaller than Mary and, with thanks to everyone who suggested baby clothes/special "prem" wear, he really is only about ten inches long. I might as well come clean and say I can't knit very well (I could wrap him in a long, long scarf, which is all I could manage) and neither can the grannies. I do sew well (I made some really quite good Sindy costumes as a teenager) but working full-time outside the home leaves me no time. I will give eBay a try. I am finding his little naked limbs poking out of the toybox strangely upsetting! Thanks all.
