I figured that this could be the opposite of the what annoys you in others thread....

I love the daffodils being out - spring.

Sunny days

When dd smiles at me or giggles for no reason

When people tell me how lovely dd is

OP posts:

DS' beaming face when I pick him up from Nursery and he runs over to me with his arms out shouting 'Mummy!!'

When dp does something practical in the house without me nagging him first!

Cooking a fantastic meal and hearing dp's appreciation!!

NadC · 24/03/2003 14:34

When dd stops whatever she's doing just to give me a hug and kiss (she's 18mth)and then goes back to playing.

Watching dd and dp reading stories.

Hearing her say new words - even the 'n' word!

Chinchilla · 24/03/2003 19:38

Buying a new lipstick!

I just added to the tantrum thread, so what makes me smile is reading this thread, and seeing the other fabulous side to our children. I can't wait for the smile I will make when DD says "I love you" for the first time (you lucky people)

What everyone says, plus picking up soppy text messages from DH when he is away...

JoAnne427 · 25/03/2003 02:05

Last night, dd (almost 2) was curled up in bed with me (I've been quite under the weather!) and when I rolled over and closed my eyes, she rubbed my back so gently back and forth, softly whispering "shhhh" over and over.

That gentle tiny hand on my back was the most wonderful feeling - it brought tears to my eyes!

tinyfeet · 25/03/2003 02:55

A good hair day
Clear blue skies on a spring morning
The perfect cup of coffee
The sound of DD's laughter
My favorite pair of blue jeans
When DH says something nice
Pictures of my late father holding DD

Jzee · 25/03/2003 08:58

Being 6 months pregnant dh just told me I look like an Easter Egg - had to agree with him on that one!

webmum · 25/03/2003 13:53

JoAnne427 you brought tears to my eyes, just thinking about dd makes me smile

watching her yesterday as she 'read' a book to her soft bunny seated on her lap (she's 22 months!)

whenever she hugs us or kisses us, especially if we don't ask!!

when she hugs other little children

when dh does something useful in the house without being asked

mums and babies, looking in each others' eyes (broody who's broody??)

bundle · 25/03/2003 14:12

dd proudly looking at herself in the mirror this morning after she'd chosen her own outfit for nursery - denim dress with pink t-shirt underneath, new canvas shoes with pink sequins on them and a slide in her hair. pure bliss.

doormat · 25/03/2003 14:18

Knowing when the mother in law comes for a visit she has to go home. eventually.

kaz33 · 25/03/2003 15:44

DS

soothepoo · 25/03/2003 23:51

Being told by dd that beech nuts are made from honey, conkers are made from Smarties and flowers are made from mummy.

thumper · 26/03/2003 00:01

This is probably more for the things kids say thread, but dd, after being bought some jelly beans at the local shop tonight cos I had to get some milk and we'd had a traumatic journey home, got out of the car, looked at me and said 'bad mummy', I said 'me bad mummy, why?' Cos you let me have sweets mummy. Aagh! Made me smile though!

Enchanted · 26/03/2003 00:22

Brand new parents.

Ds smiling face in the morning.

Ds when I collect him from nursery and he runs into my arms.

Ds giving me an out of the blue hug and saying 'I love you Mummy'

Just ds really, I just love him so much! Awwwwww!

Enchanted · 26/03/2003 00:28

Ds said to me today 'Mummy, I love Dunken'
Dunken runs our Post Office and sweetie shop where ds buys his beloved Kinder Eggs. After saying this he strode straight in and said in a loud, bold voice 'Hello there Dunken'
It made everyone in the shop smile, most of all me!

SimonHoward · 26/03/2003 07:13

My dear nephew asking my youngest brother if there were any pet shops that did a buy one get one free offer on pet snakes.

mieow · 26/03/2003 07:18

DD2 first thing in the morning, when I get out of bed and go into her bedroom, she is standing in her cot, with the biggest smile

Luna · 26/03/2003 11:26

DD told me that it will be Mother's Day soon. I asked her what that meant - did it mean that she had to be nice to be on that day? She said I don't want to love you on Mothers' Day; I love you today.

JoAnne427 · 26/03/2003 14:36

Enchanted, I love the Dunken story!

DD when I picked her up from nursery yesterday, striding out resolutely in front of me through the lobby waving to a group gathered there without looking at them, like a little woman busy on her way, and saying "I'll see you, bye bye"

And yes, seeing new parents - I saw one the other day, a young women strolling down the street with a baby only a few months old - oh, the look in the new mother's eyes! I remember that feeling so well!

And a favorite of mine - sitting at an outdoor cafe in the early days of spring with a couple of good friends, and sipping a fabulous margarita!

bells2 · 26/03/2003 16:18

My 7 year old nephew earnestly asking DS (then 2 1/2) if he was gay. I am pleased to say the question was asked in an entirely non-judgemental way.

mieow · 26/03/2003 16:54

OH OH!!!!!! Today DD2 (18 mths) took a baby doll from its pram and hugged it and patted it every so gently on the back while going "aaawwwww"
It was lovely!!!!!!!
DS has told my hubby what he has done for Mothers Day but "Mummy isn't allowed to know!!!!!!"

JoAnne427 · 26/03/2003 20:34

Mieow that is precious! Don't you love seeing that nurturing side come out?

Bears · 28/03/2003 20:49

I know this'll be a popular one but I'll add it anyway - just watching my ds doing things each day, learning and saying new things, often so funny. He's 21 mths BTW & I'm SO proud of him.

lucy123 · 28/03/2003 20:55

Didn't mention this before as she'd stopped doing it for a while, but she's started again...Dd kicking and flapping her arms excitedly when i go in to get her up.

And today, dd laughing uncontrollably because I had a pen in my mouth and pinged it. She obviously has my sense of humour...

SoupDragon · 28/03/2003 20:57

Hearing that people I love are expecting their 1st child

DS1 saying "Mummy, you look gorgeous, I love you." - that boy will go far!

DS2, huge grey eyes wide with pleading, saying "I want luklat" (chocolate).
