Do you know of any new builds in and around bristol where we might be able to get a nice little house? We are having to move out of our London flat sometime in the near future, it is rented and is being sold . I'd ideally like to get back to Bristol. We can apparently afford a mortgage of some description, and a house where the deposit etc was paid for us would be ideal (I've been on mat leave so the saving for a deposit has quite materialised yet!). If anyone knows of anywhere or any appropriate companies I'd be incredibly grateful! TIA.

First what?

Flossam, that looks more like Hengrove to me but I still don't think it's very nice, sorry. Hmm, I think you need to go and look at the area really. Ikwym about moving and prices, we want to buy somewhere where we'll stay a good 10 years and don't care how much it's worth: it's somewhere to live, not an investment!

Sorry to keep popping up on your thread and being the voice of doom Flossam, but that house is quite close to Hareclive Rd which I remember as being pretty horrible. My memory is pretty shot since having children though. Does it have to be a new build and would you look at a flat somewhere ?

Hi ....every part of Bristol has its dodgy area. I live in Whitechurch which is close to Hengrove, Hartcliffe and Knowle . Its lovely here close the the country and the city . They are building a park and ride in the area and also Hengrove is to have a massive make over with a new cottage hospital, leisure centre and 600 new homes. There is really good toddler groups and a fab church, the local sports centre has tons of thingas for ickle ones. I moved from London area to Bristol its hard eh ! good luck x

Thank you so much for all your help.
KP, it probably would have to be a new build, we prefer them and for the fact that our deposit may well be paid. We don't have any money saved, as this wasn't quite planned for now. We intended to stay in the flat for another year at least. I'm just trying to skip a move if at all possible. I do have a graduate account though, so we may be able to get a 100% mortgage. I would rather a house if possible. DS is only a baby still but having somewhere for him to expore outside would be lovely!

WWW, you are right. We would need to get down there and see. We will wait and see if DP passes his test, if he does then we will start making some serious moves to look around (I hope). We should be going down to see DP's parents some time soon, but as the last time they saw them is when he was 6 weeks old mid december I'm not holding my breath!

Podmog, thanks for all your help. I'd seen the Barratts ones, but they looked slightly too expensive for us. Knowing abour the investments etc may make it worth while wandering down there though. The Portishead would be a bit too far out I think, at least an hour on the bus, and for a 7 am start it would be too painful to bear I think! They are also priced up way above our range, I think. They'd have to do an amazing deal to make it affordable for us!

Haggered, thanks very much for the advice. I will keep my eye open around there.
