Cadbury World

I had to come on here and recommend Cadbury World in Birmingham if you have any little chocaholics. We visited it yesterday and had a brilliant day. I live in Kent so was abit unsure as I didn't know what to expect and was the length of time in the car really worth it.
It was very well organised and so clean. When you have small children you do like the toilets in places like this to be immaculate and they were.

The Cadabra ride was a huge success with ds (4) and dd (almost 1). Have to admit it was very magical and I felt like a child again. Then there was the whole chocolate factor, lots of freebies and tasters. My ds was in heaven. The play area was also a huge hit.
We all had a day to remember and dd had a great time even though she's not quite 1. If she was up on her feet she'd have been in the play area too.
Wondering if anyone else had been and what they had thought of it?

Angel78, we went too last year and had a great time, all that free chocolate!! Even a 3yr old gets the same ration, so I had plenty to keep ME going!

Did you pre-book, it definitely looked advisable, people who were turning up at the same time as us who hadnt, were having to wait for nearly 2 hrs. Not fun.

7yr old had a work sheet, lots to look at for all ages, he enjoyed eating the melted chocolate with a little spoon without licking your lips. The little ride was cute. The playground outside was good. The shop had lots in and some nice bargains, even unchocolatey things.

Have always fancied giving it a go, and it sounds great. How much does it cost? Also, Angel78 I live in Kent, how long did it take you to get there?

Claireandrich · 17/03/2003 19:35

We have been too a couple of years ago, although with no children -just 4 adults!!! It was great fun, and we got lots of freebie chocolate. We did pre-book and I would definitely recommend it. Also, it isn't open one day of the week (can't remember which). The first time we turned up on that day!!!

Can't remember cost but they have a good website, which will give you all the info you need.

If you have a nectar card you might be able to get there with your points - we got tickets for 2 adults and 2 children for 4000 points (you can get single tickets but I can't remember how many points you need for each).

We did pre-book, I'd advise anyone to as they seemed very busy. I don't know how much it costs as my mum booked it all as a birthday suprise for my sister but you'd be able to find out on their website.
Nutjob, It took us approx 3 hours to get up to Birmingham(out of interest where in Kent are you from?). Even if you get there abit early they have a brilliant cafe. A chocaholics dream. They even had a hot chocolate bar with different flavour hot chocs.

I'm not one for buying souveneirs really but we came home with a few bags including a Cadabra t shirt and cadburys toy truck for ds and a beanie cocoa bean for dd. The cadbury show was also not to be missed. I really could rave about it all day .

Think I will have to talk dh into taking me and the kids there this Easter, it sounds fab. And I must admit I am a chocaholic, I have to have at least one bar a day, at the moment I am favouring Twirls!! Angel78, I am on the North Kent/South London border in Bexley, anywhere near you?

Angel78 · 18/03/2003 15:40

Nutjob. Make sure dh takes you as you and the kids will love it. You'll have to post a message and let us know what you thought. Have a quick look at their website and pre-book. Have fun. I'll definitely take my 2 again once ds can do the worksheets and dd can play more of an active part. By the way I'm from Maidstone.

OOhhh! I'm from Maidstone as well, wonder if we know each other?

I'd love a trip to Cadbury World, unfortunately I started a diet yesterday!

bea · 18/03/2003 19:42

it's quite peculiar to hear you all raving about cadbury world as it is literally just 10 mins/5 mins walk away from me!!!! so strange to hear about your locality being such a favoured spot... this is what it must feel like to live by the sea and to hear people going on what afbby place that would be to go visit!..

sorry that does sound a little confusing... hope you get the gist of it... it's been a long day!!!!!

Lindy · 18/03/2003 20:52

Bea - I know exactly what you mean - I live very near the sea but hardly ever go. People say they envy me but all I can think is 'yes, but you probably live near a Marks & Spencer' !!
