Has any one been to Pennywell Farm's nativity play ?

I'm going to take my daughter who's 3 and 3/4. I just wondered if anyone else has been and what it's like. They get the children to dress up as charactors from the nativity and of corse they have real animals.
My daughter is quite shy though and there's a chance she will fefuse to join in and will want to just sit with us. This would be very disapointing. If she refused to join in, could she still dress up and have her picture taken with one of the animals?
Also if you have any tips for us to make sure she joins in, please let me know.

Never been to their nativity but I used to go to Pennywell every year when I was little. I took dd back this summer and I was so disappointed It has really changed, but I think if you hadn't been before you'd not think it was bad iyswim? I did make dd wear wellies but there was no need. You do need to dress up warm though and in clothes that you don't really mind getting messy. Dd was also shy and wouldn't feed the animals, but tbh there were so many people there she wouldn't have been able to get to the front anyway.

Thanks Littlelamb, I've been in the summer too. I didn't think there was that much there for the money but my daughter loved it.
They get to take part in the nativity play, meet father christmas and his two raindeer. Then we get mulled wine and a mince pie.

I've seen from the outside with ds1 (who wouldn't go in - but he's severely autistic).

Looked good.

DS2 has been the last 3 years and loved it each year.

Some children find sitting on straw prickly so might be worth taking a towel or something to cover a bale with if you think that might put her off.

Aww bless, my daughter used to do that. She'd be excited about going somewhere then refuse to get out of the car, and she's not autistic.

We do it every year, the dtwins went with school this week. It's lovely but freezing in the barn so wrap up warm. The atmosphere is lovely and if you go when dark even better.

One year dp went down to the stage bit with dd. They ALL dress up so I think you could take photos even if she wasn't keen. Just make sure you go and get her costume even if she doesn't want it. One of my boys got chosen to go on the donkey last year but he refused.

They get lovely presents from Santa the girls in dtwins class got a handbag and set of wooden beads.

Thank you. It sounds lovely. I'm really looking forward to it.
