We are due to have a daytrip to lapland on sunday, im pretty much sorted with regards to clothing..layers,thermals,hats gloves etc..BUT need to know about footwear.

The dk & I will prob wear ugg style boots BUT wondered if these are ok as im guessing proper footwear will be provided..?

Am I right or wrong.? OR do we need to provide our own footwear..? If so what.? Wellies and what about dh..?

Advice appreciated. TIA x

When you land in lapland you will be taken straight into an aircraft hanger. They have EVERY size of snowsuit and boots you could possible need. Just take you own hats, gloves and scarves. Enjoy the trip, we did it a few years back and it was just amazing. We are going again this time for a couple of nights, cant wait...

Can you check with the travel company? From what I recall of people who hired suits for longer trips, I think boots were included but it may be different for day trips.

If you do need to take your own, Ugg-type boots wouldn't be grippy enough and would probably start to let in water. Wellies will be very cold unless you have lots of socks on too. I don't know how old your DCs are, but Asda had some snowboots last week in toddler+ sizes. When we've been on week-long trips, both DH and I have worn waterproof walking-type boots - mine have got a rubber bit on the uppers to protect them. They're something we can wear here too and not very expensive. Hope that helps and hope you have a great trip - I'd love to go back but we (DH!) have decided to wait until DD is a bit older (spoilsport!!).

we were completely kitted out from top to toe.

thanks everyone .
I think all would be included but not had chance to check with the travel company yet..BUT dh being dh has decided it would be easier and quicker if we bought our own stuff . So today I have just bought the dk's and myself some boots. Im kiddies size so managed to get boots for £35 and dk's for £25...

I also got a fleece so just need to borrow salopetes..dh has bought the whole lot BUT he insists we will be doing skiing as a family activity and my sister moves far north scotland next year so guess we will need them then .

I suppose its to easy to get carried away...
also the weather as it is now prob get good use .

Thanks again everyone. Can't wait till sun .

Who are you going with?

Most co provide all outer clothing bar hats and scarves. Most only provide all in ones rather than salopettes and jackets.

If it is a day trip I assume you will only get hand luggage allowance? Where are you going to store ski jackets and snow boots whilst you fly?

Hope you have a great time.

Normally the pre travel info gives a list of camparable Finn sizes to UK to make it quicker and easier to collect your snow stuff.

Travelling with thomas cook and think they provide all except hats etc...

Tickets say we have full allowance BUT obviously won't take that as we have to carry it. Won't even take ds pram and just manage with a bag each (dh & I). Nothing to carry really except coats which can go in hold etc..boots I guess can be worn..
