Help - cheapish day out ideas urgently needed!

Help - Please can anyone suggest a reasonably cheapish family day out (under £100 - preferably under £50! - we're broke) in Kent/Surrey/M25ish for this Sunday March 16th for SD's 14th birthday treat?

Also needs to be suitable for 2YO DS & older DH!

She's asked for Thorpe Park/Chessington - but they're both closed until early April. I'm afraid that the cultural options wouldn't go down too well either - wipe out all thoughts of cathedrals/museums/educational establishments!

Any ideas gratefully received - thanks...

Would she despise Drusilla's Zoo in Alfriston, East Sussex? It's supposed to be lovely for all ages.

Thanks - both excellent suggestions! I really appreciate it! I'm going to find out more right now, but will check back in with SD before making any financial commitment - I'm afraid that the likes and dislikes of a 14-year-old are now a completely mysterious thing to me.

Marina - love the "...Would she despise...". I sense you are aware of my difficulties!

Thanks again!

Eagle Heights in Eynsford, just off the A20 near the M25. They rescue birds of prey and fly them twice a day (12 and 3.30 I think) There are also snakes and other such delights to see. Eynesford is a nice village with a Roman villa nearby.

Costs about 5 quid each, just don't go on a cold day, you have to sit out on the south downs.

What about an indoor wintersports centre where older children can book snowboarding, sledging and skiing sessions? Your ds should find the activities interesting to watch even if he cannot join in. I know there's a centre in Chatham but can't remember the name. There's also a normal leisure centre with a pool opposite it, I believe.

If you go, or anyone else has been, please let me know what it's like. My oldest ds wants to try some winter sports and he's nearly old enough for us to take him along.

Tigermoth - I have been to the one in Milton Keynes and it was a great laugh - we took our two toboggoning (sp?) - one recommendation - remember that you need really warm clothes and wellies are a good idea (snow goes up your trousers) - does that sound obvious? Although you can ususally hire clothes at these places.

Tigermoth , Slug - thanks for excellent suggestions. In the end, SD was roused from her teenage torpor by a visit to a Harvester "restaurant" (AAAAAAGH!) - which was fine. Enjoyed by all, to varying degrees, but most importantly by the Birthday Girl herself.

Thanks again - will try to persuade of the virtues of Birds of Prey/skiing next time. Whilst researching though, I found fabulous stuff about Thomas (Tank Engine) days out for DS! Am looking forward to June already!
