How to get mold off wallpaper ? Surveyor coming tomorrow !

Bit of a strange one I know ladies :0) We are selling our house and our buyers surveyor is coming tomorrow. In our bedroom under our windows the wallpaper has some little patches of mould (black spots) - the wallpaper was there when we moved in (3 years ago) and is a very pale cream colour - there was no mould when we moved in but basically the condensation from the windows has caused it. I was wondering if anyone had any magic ideas for getting rid of it. I have tried wiping it with a damp cloth which doesn't work.

The only thing I am aware of that would get rid of the damp spots is a special paint which probably isn't an option at this late stage.I wouldn't worry about it too much as if it's only condensation I doubt the surveyor will make an issue out of it. Or you could disguise it with a piece of heavy furniture!

We had this problem in our last flat, but it was painted walls and we painted them with special paint under the final colour coat to prevent it spreading - I think we used a water/bleach solution to try and clean it up. (Open the windows tho to get rid of the smell)

We worried as well about a surveyor picking it up when we sold but there was no mention of it after the survey

Hide it with something!

Dettol mould and mildew remover ( green bottle) is brilliant. DS (15) lives in a pitof a bedroom and never opens the windows, there was mould round the window frames and on the wall, just spray on and wipe of!

Works on grouting in the bathroom too, - makes my house sound disgusting!!

The Dettol stuff is great, don't inhale near it though!

It seems to work on everything except silicone. As it's wallpaper it might be a good idea to wipe it off sooner than it says so it doesn't soak the paper too much but it does work best if you leave it.

HI ladies, yes we used this in our shower room which is poorly ventilated and it god rid of it but about a week after some funny brown spots appeared ? Really weird !

For those with the hide it suggestions - I have already done that ! I have a chair in front of it but without blocking the window it's difficult to put anything bigger. Unless he looks very closely he won't see it.

Fingers crossed Hope the person buying my house isn't reading it ! Im sure he appreciated how clean and tidy and perfect it was, with fresh spring flowers in vases and welcoming coffee brewing each time he visited !

I use Astonish Mould and Mildew Remover on my emulsioned blown vinyl wall paper and also on the sealant around my window frames. A quick spray loosens the worst of it but you might need to scrub at it with an old toothbrush and leave for a few minutes to get the more stubborn marks off. It smells strongly of bleach though.
