Dh wants to paint and i want wallpapaer.
Being a very small hall stairs and landing i agree as nice as wallpaper would be it will be a faff to do.
I was thinking of papering the facing wall as you step into hall from front door, and also papering the facing wall at top of stairs-both on a lovely mocca wallpaper with huge black flowers on.
I was then going to just PAINT the walls up the stairs in ,ocha.
Is is ok to have 2 walls painted and 2 papered-or should i just stick to one or the other ?
Would really appreciate comments as getting ready to go out and buy ! x

sounds perfect. all wallpaper is too much.

Think it's fine. But...

Someone told me to stick to paler colours on the facing hall walls it adds depth and makes room look longer.

So ours has side walls slightly darker and facing walls are white. i actually think it makes our hall look longer and lighter.

I think it sounds fine. I like big prints, butyou wouldn't want huge black flowers on all your walls I wouldnt have thought, unless you have a really palatial hall!

I agree wallpaper is often too much especially a heavily patterned one.

sounds really nice, but just be carefull not to choose a paper with a big pattern - in a small area it can look make it look smaller if the pattern is to big.

fakeblonde · 22/11/2008 12:32

Yes i might go for something smaller when i get there

Should be fine. Take care when matching the colours though. Maybe use the colour matching service from Dulux where they scan an example of the paper to find the best paint match.
