How do I hang my Indian wall hanging?
It has a loop at the back running along one edge but we want to hang it the other way so it fits the space better.

hhm - not sure

Ivykaty44 · 22/11/2008 11:45

I shall have to have a think about this.....

DH did something with our woven Mucha throw that involved fishing line and thin pieces of bamboo and twisted pieces of wire, but tbh it all got a bit tense and fretful and I really haven't got it in me to listen to him explain how he did it in detail....

Apparently the correct tension is key?!

I really do not want to have to do fishng wire, twisted wire and sobbing.

Yes, what are D rings?

(I have another woven thingy that I wanted to fix to a door but lost the will, what with all the sobbing)

what about those clips that are for tablecloth weights - would they go along the top and then you can hook them over picture hooks. No sewing involved! Disclaimer: I'm not actually sure how the tablecloth weight thingies work, and whether they might be heavy duty enough for this.

D ring. Scroll down page.

Could you use a short curtain rail and curtain rings either clipped on or sewn on the back?

A friend of mine did this with a wrought iron pole. Looked very effective.

twinsetandpearls · 22/11/2008 12:27

I did think of a curtain pole actually but not a wrought iron one.

We are in a rented house that has been newly decorated so want to damage the wall as little as possible.

If you sewed hooks or a sleeve along it you can buy a pole called a café rod which will slot into it. You can adjust the length of the rod to fit your hanging.
You can then use hooks from 3m which attach firmly to the wall, but when you want to move them you pull a strip and they come off leaving no trace on the wall.

ooh thanks for that otherside
