OK,I haven't got any excuse really.I don't go out to work,I haven't got any other arrangements. It's one of them "assembly" things that last about 15 minutes.I'm proud of her for learning all her words and taking everything so seriously. However, she's a member of our local theatre club and I always go and watch everything all my kids do.But,for me to go and watch tomorrow,I'm going to have to pay about 4 in taxis and hang around for an hour whilst waiting for my other two kids to come out of school. Can't video the play as my camera's broke. She's 10 btw. Can't see me going to the High School next year to see things she's involved with.My Mum stopped coming to see me when I was about 8...(my 8yr old and 9yr olds would actually prefer me not to go to their plays.) Am I such a bad mother to not go and watch her?

If she wants you to go and you can, then I would go. As you said, before you know it you will want to see what she's doing and she won't want you there.

BrokenliSpears · 20/11/2008 21:08

Would she like you to be there?

artichokes · 20/11/2008 21:09

You don't go out to work so you can go. If it means alot to her then I think you should go.

I do go out to work and if my DD wanted me to watch her in a performance I would get the time off even if it meant great inconvenience.

Yeah, funnily enough, she really wants me to go.I'm just imagining myself sitting there;the only Mum in the hall...!

If she wants you to go then I think you should. Why would you be the only one there?

CarofromWton · 20/11/2008 21:13

She wants you to go and she's taking her part seriously. Have you really any choice?

cutekids · 20/11/2008 21:16

cos it's mid-afternoon and most mums DO work!.....and,to be honest,i've always been the Mum who turns up for these sort of things...usually about half an hour early too!!!I think I'm going back to my own childhood days when I used to get teased-by the teachers-for having an "over-fussy Mother"!! Keep thinking she's going to get that too.(mum was over-fussy in other ways but suddenly stopped...maybe she had this fear too!?!)

Plus, the mothers I have asked if they're going have looked blankly at me as if I'm making it up....Kids obviously don't give their letters to their mums!!
