Is this the right place to shout and scream for a minute....?

Right, OK, here goes.....

I get so effing pissed off when I make the effort to buy something and then it doesn't fulfil the role it is supposed to. The idea of returning items to shops was never much fun but it becomes so difficult when you have a toddler in tow.

I have bought some of those storage bags which you (apparently) vaccuum (sp?) the air out of. I got them from the Littlewoods Index shop.

They are shit. I've just been sorting out the past two years of dd's clothes and packed them up into these bags. I could squeeze more air out than I was supposed to be able to suck out with the vacuum cleaner. It possibly doesn't help that the hose of my vacuum doesn't fit completely over the valve on the bag BUT, I am closing the seal with my finger. I'd expect to see some movement within the bag.

And with one of the bags, the plastic cover doesn't stay closed after I have (apparently) vacuumed out some air. So, the bag is faulty ANYWAY. Argh. I'm so pissed off (deep breaths, deep breaths) Ous house is tiny and I need to get these items back into the attic ASAP.#

Should I take the storage bags back to the shop (not sure I even have my receipt) and just put the stuff in the loft in blck bin bags? Sometimes things go yellow like that. How can I stop that?

Thanks, I feel a tiny bit better for offloading.

What about phoning the Manager and explaining? I'm sure they'd give you an exchange without a receipt if they're faulty.

But I know that's not the point, so again for you.

Don't put them in bin bags in the loft, our next door neighbours did that and they went all moudly.

poppyknot · 16/03/2005 13:45

I had same problem - no air coming out and %^$£$%$$ frustration.

Take them back as they are faulty. Or is there a Customer Services phone/address to which you could have a rant. I have never contacted one of these so it might be futile.

If you put them in the loft I would imagine that suitcase might be better. (they are easier to pack neatly and from experience easier to go through when you might need to) Put in moth balls.

Good luck!!!

would deffo phone the store to complain and see what they say. As for storing clothes we have used the plastic underbed storage boxes as the clothes are sealed then.

starlover · 16/03/2005 13:54

I would take them back to the shop, because if they are faulty they should give you a refund or at least store credit.

I have some of these bags from Argos and they work fine. You have to push down on the valve thingy with your hose to open it and no air can get back in. They also have a double zip-lock opening to stop air escaping. Must say I was impressed with them

starlover · 16/03/2005 13:57

woops, double zip-lock opening to stop air getting IN, not out.
DUH

Just incase you are all sat on the edge of your seats awaiting an update.... here it is.

DH came home. I explained the predicament. He disappeared upstairs for 20 minutes and came down and reported the job successfully completed.

Hmmm, just call me incompetent.
