I'd like to point out there were only 2 tea towels. Nearly 6 years on and I still can't get over it

My SIL once picked up DS from school trip and put him on plane to meet us. When we next saw her she gave us a bill for one pair of socks and a jar of peanut butter and some copies of photos that she gave us! It wasn't as if we'd even asked for them!

My MIL frequents the £1 shops too and is constantly buying tat for dd. It drives me mad. I'd rather she didn't buy anthing at all than keep buying rubbish. She should save her money and put it away for dd or if she must buy things (because it brings her pleasure), save up and buy something decent rather than useless tat ! Rant over

My dd is the only grandchild for my partner's parents, who are financially comfortable, certainly much better off than me and dp. Previous Xmas presents are a small velour bib which said "Baby's first Christmas" followed by the next year a flannel in lime green. I kept waiting for the main present to arrive both years!

My MIL takes a kitchen knife with her to the supermarket - so she can cut the stalk off broccoli and not have to pay for it!

I too have a set of 'lovely' cot sheets that were made out of old threadbare adult sheets. Nothing was wasted, any leftovers were cobbled together to make another one - it must feel like lying on a ploughed field! I also inherited clothes from my SIL for dd - they had originally come from charity shops, been worn by two children and not washed before they were put away.

CraftyCat: that is so dishonest!! Drives me mad if people do things like that because I used to work in a grocer's. That and people who let their kids nibble on grapes (or other foods that are paid for by weight) whilst touring the supermarket, and before the grapes are paid for, of course.

I never let my kids snack on anything in the supermarket; never never. Asking for trouble.
